Jamie D. Walls obtained his PhD in chemistry in 2003 from UC Berkeley under the supervision of Alex Pines. He subsequently performed postdoctoral research at UCLA (with Prof. Yung-Ya Lin) and at Harvard University (with Prof. Eric J. Heller) before joining the faculty at the University of Miami in 2008, where he is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry.
The research in the Walls group mainly focuses on nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) methodological development and applications and studying spin physics. In particular, there is a focus on research into improving resolution in NMR and expanding the ways we can control spin dynamics.
Prof Wang's research spans several disciplines including quantum dynamics theory, quantum computation and information, atomic physics, and computational science. She has published extensively, including a recent book published by Springer, four book chapters, and numerous journal papers. Prof Wang currently leads the quantum dynamics and computation group at The University of Western Australia. She and her research team have developed advanced numerical techniques to solve problems in both quantum and classical domain.

He got his PhD degree in Chemical Biology in 2010 from Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) under the supervision of Prof. Xiaogang Qu. He was co-mentored by Associate Prof. Hang (Hubert) Yin (Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and the BioFrontiers Institute) and Distinguished Prof. Linda R. Watkins (Department of Psychology and Neuroscience and the Center for Neuroscience) at the University of Colorado at Boulder during his Post-Doc training. Since 2015, he starts his independent academic career.

Norifumi Yamamoto received his PhD from Kyushu University in 2004. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) at the University of Tokyo from 2004 to 2007. He was an Assistant Professor at Gifu University from 2007 to 2010, and at Nagoya University from 2010 to 2012. He moved to Chiba Institute of Technology in 2012, where he is currently a Professor of computational chemistry.
Barbara Zambelli graduated cum laude in Biotechnology in 2002 at the University of Bologna. She carried out her pre-doctoral research activity at the Department of Agro-Environmental Science and Technology, under the supervision of Prof. S. Ciurli, studying the biochemical and structural properties of proteins involved in intracellular nickel trafficking. She obtained the Ph.D. degree at the University of Bologna in 2006. As a Ph.D. student, she spent few months working at the Department of Biochemistry, University of Gent (Belgium), under the supervision of Prof. Jozef Van Beeumen. In 2005 she was awarded an EMBO (European Molecular Biology Organization) Short Term Fellowship, to visit the EMBL of Hamburg and to do research - crystallization experiments of metallo-proteins - under the supervision of Dr. Paul Tucker. From 2006 to 2008 she carried out a post-doctoral work within the project “Intracellular nickel trafficking through the interactions with specific nickel-chaperones”. From November 2008, she is Assistant Professor at the Department of Pharmacy and Biotechnology of the University of Bologna.
Her research work is focused on the structural and molecular properties of proteins involved in metal homeostasis. In particular, she is interested in the proteins involved in the regulation of nickel metabolism, at the level of transcription and of post-translation.
