As a scientist and educator, I want to promote the power of the scientific method through discussion of scientific literacy across disciplines and increase the general awareness of the importance of critical thinking. I am a senior staff scientist at the Institute of Materials Science of Aragón, within the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), and I am affiliated to the Department of Condensed Matter Physics at the University of Zaragoza.
I hold a Laurea (Bachelor’s degree) from the University of Camerino (1996) and a joint PhD degree awarded by the Universities of Leiden and Zaragoza (2001). I worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Leiden (2001–2004) and the CNR Institute of Nanoscience in Modena (2004–2009), before joining the Institute of Materials Science of Aragón as a "Ramón y Cajal" CSIC Fellow. I tenured as a CSIC scientist in 2010, becoming senior scientist in 2017.
I am an experimental physicist with a keen interest in magnetocaloric and electrocaloric materials and in the development of advanced instrumentation.
I obtained my PhD from the University of Valencia (Spain) focused on Supramolecular & Bioinorganic Chemistry, in which I worked in metalloenzymes mimetics and anion receptors. Upon completing my PhD in 2013, I performed several postdoctoral research positions in the University of Kansas (USA) and Institute Curie (France), in which I specialized in the development of drugs for non-canonical nucleic acids such as G-quadruplexes, triplexes or i-motifs. Then, I joined the Department of Chemistry at Imperial College London as Newton Fellow to develop new tools to target and visualize G-quadruplexes in cells. I continued my projects as IdEx Fellow in the European Institute of Chemistry and Biology in Bordeaux (France). Actually, I’ve started my team in the Institute of Molecular Science in the University of Valencia, where I’ve developed novel systems and methodologies to target non-canonical DNA structures and unravel their biological roles.
Dr. Debabrata Goswami is the Prof. S. Sampath Endowed Chair Professor of Chemistry and Adjunct Professor of Center for Lasers and Photonics of IIT Kanpur. He is the elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, the Institute of Physics (UK), the Optical Society (OSA) and the SPIE. He is the winner of the 2018 Galileo Galilei Prize of the International Commission of Optics, the Thatachary Award, the Wellcome Trust Senior Research Fellowship, and the Swarnajayanti Fellow. He is the Vice President of the IEEE Photonics Society India, Past Chairman, Photonics-2016. He has written over 200 papers and was in the Editorial Board of the Rev of Scientific Reports (AIP).
Mingda completed his B.S. in Engineering Physics from Tsinghua University in 2009, and his Ph.D. in Nuclear Science and Engineering from MIT in 2015. Before joining the department as a faculty, he carried out research as a postdoc associate at Mechanical Engineering Department of MIT. His research is to study the quantum and functional properties of materials using spectroscopic methods and many-body theory, particularly interplay with materials defects.
My research focus is in using quantitative methods to precisely understand how soils function and change- spatially, and through time.
I research methods for comprehensive digital soil mapping aiming to characterize soil both in the lateral and vertical dimensions.
I research methods for quantifying (and validating) measures of uncertainty for these comprehensive soil information systems.
I investigate innovative systems for soil measurement, which includes that associated with remote and proximal and soil sensing instrumentation. I have particular interest in infrared and x-ray spectroscopy.

Michael Ruggiero is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at the University of Vermont in the United States. He received undergraduate degrees in chemistry and mathematics from the State University of New York (SUNY) College at Geneseo, and his Master’s and Ph.D. from Syracuse University, both in New York State. His doctoral work, performed under the guidance of Professor Timothy Korter, focused on combining experimental terahertz time-domain spectroscopy with ab initio density functional theory simulations, where he pursued the electronic origins of intermolecular forces in molecular crystals. Following a successful defense, he took up an EPSRC-sponsored postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom, working with Professor Axel Zeitler in the Terahertz Applications Group. At Cambridge, his focus shifted to disordered molecular solids, with the goal of understanding the molecular dynamics responsible for solid-state crystallization of amorphous drugs. After almost three years in Cambridge, Ruggiero went back to America to take up a position of Assistant Professor at the University of Vermont, where he is currently combining theoretical simulations with experimental spectroscopy. His work is highly interdisciplinary, sitting at the intersection of chemistry, physics, pharmacy, materials science, and computer science, and as such he is a heavy collaborator with groups from around the world.

Dr. Rajesh Kumar Singh was born in 1980. He received his B. Pharmacy (2003) and M. Pharmacy (2005) from UIPS, Panjab University, Chandigarh. He completed his PhD in 2013 from IKG Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU), Jalandhar.
Dr. Singh’s major area of research interests are synthetic medicinal chemistry, polymer-drug conjugates for targeted delivery, Antimalarial and CNS active therapeutic agents and green chemistry approaches for chemical synthesis of pharmaceutical molecules.
Dr. Singh has over 14 years of teaching experience, guided 18 PG and 01 Ph.D. students and currently guiding 02 PhD students. He has published more than 60 peer-reviewed scientific research papers in SCI indexed various Chemistry and Pharmacy Journals of impact factor 1.5 to 4.8 as the main or corresponding author.
Dr. Singh is Editorial Board Member of SCOPUS indexed 06 Int. Journals. He has received Publon Award 2016, 2017 and Publon “Excellent Peer Reviewer award” for outstanding reviewing more than 120 research papers of different International Journals of ACS, RSC, Springer, Elsevier, Dove, Informa and Bentham of Impact Factor varies from 1.0 to 8.5. He has also to his credit more than 50 National and International Conference Abstracts, 2 Books, 5 Best Paper Presentation Awards, 1 Travel grant to attend Int. Conf. and 5 Research Projects funded by various government funding agencies.
