Stevo Popovic

Stevo Popovic is a full professor at University of Montenegro who has 10+ years’ experience with particular focus on planning, conducting, and evaluating research studies dealing with health and exercise, which also include clinical trials. As a sports and exercise scientist he uses knowledge of how the body works to help people improve their health and sporting ability at large. However, he has also profound insight into physical anthropology, and understands the complexity of how physical activity affect the human body and its composition; but, also into social anthropology that helps to understand the social side of the same issues.

With a background as a Ph.D. from the University of Novi Sad and postdoc from the University of Ljubljana (ranked 1st in Slovenia, 326th in the global 2024 rating, and scored in the top 50% across 228 research topics), as well as a teacher and research at the University of Montenegro, he has achieved the following key competencies: knowledge of teaching and the ability to design courses, project and data management, study design expertise, excellent communication skills, and dissemination skills in both written and oral etc. He currently holds several leading positions in the national and international projects, as well as leading roles and memberships in the governing bodies of professional and scientific organizations. He is a former Dean of Faculty of Sport and Physical Education and Editor-in-Chief of University of Montenegro Press, both in two mandates, former member of HEPA Europe Steering Committee, FIEPS Board of Directors member and member of Montenegrin Academy of Science and Art (Centre for Young Scientists and Artists). On the other hand, among several other positions, he is currently a Co-Director of Balkan Institute of Science and Innovation and Associate Editor in British Journal of Sports Medicine (Physical Activity and Population Health section). Authored 82 articles in peer-reviewed journals indexed by Scopus database (22% as the first, 17% as the last, 52% as the co-author and 9% as the single author; 23 documents in top citation percentiles), several books, book chapters and conference papers and abstracts. Cited >6,600 times; H-index = 21; Field Weighted Citation Impact (FWCI) = 5.16. As a supervisor or methodological consultant contributed to four PhD dissertations as well as many bachelor and master research theses. In 2020, on the Stanford/Elsevier’s list of top 2% researchers globally.

Luiz F. W. Roesch

Dr. Luiz F. W. Roesch is an Associate Professor within the Department of Microbiology and Cell Science at the University of Florida.

Dr. Roesch is microbial ecologist working with biomarkers of health and disease in human samples and of homeostasis or perturbation in environmental models. His research focuses on testing fundamental hypotheses in microbial ecology, especially in the Human Microbiome.

Dr. Roesch's primary expertise is in Next Generation Sequencing, Bioinformatics, and 16S rRNA surveys.

Susanne Schmid is an Associate Professor at the University of Western Ontario. Her research focuses on sensory information processing and sensory gating mechanisms. She uses mainly rodents to explore synaptic mechanisms and neuronal circuits underlying sensory gating in healthy subjects and in animal models for schizophrenia and autism.

Hang Fai Kwok

Prof Kwok’s research interests mainly focus on the development of novel monoclonal antibodies and venom-based peptides as prototype drugs for anticancer and anti-inflammatory therapies. In addition, Prof. Kwok’s research group is also expanding scientific knowledge and research in the areas of existing and novel cancer biomarkers such as 1) matricellular protein — OPN, 2) metalloproteinase — ADAM17 & ADAMTS5, 3) DNA replication licensing factor — MCM proteins, 4) small GTP binding protein — RAN, as well as immunotherapy markers (e.g. PD-1/PD-L1) in order to identify and validate their prognostic and therapeutic values according to the roles in hallmarks of cancer.

Dr. Levine is a Professor and the Walter M. Cline Chair of Excellence in Physical Therapy at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He is an adjunct professor at the University Of Tennessee College Of Veterinary Medicine and North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine. In addition, he is board certified as a specialist in orthopedics by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties and is also certified in dry needling. Dr. Levine has been working and conducting research in many areas with an emphasis in veterinary physical rehabilitation and is co-director of the University of Tennessee certificate program in canine rehabilitation. He is a co-editor of multiple books including “Canine Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy”, “Essential Facts of Physiotherapy in Dogs and Cats”, and Gait Analysis: An Introduction. He continues to practice in canine rehabilitation and human physical therapy in addition to his University position. He has presented at over 100 conferences, and has lectured in more than a dozen countries. Dr. Levine has published in numerous peer-reviewed journals with over 75 publications. His latest research focuses on bacterial contamination in medical equipment, animal assisted therapy, and laser to improve muscle endurance.

Also involved in capacity building in the field of Biomedical Engineering, in association with UNECA and FABLAB Pisa .Author of over 100 peer-reviewed publications and of several patents on microfabrication and on bioreactors, co-founder of 2 high-tech companies.

His research interests include: Cancer therapy, especially for pancreatic cancer immunotherapy; Chimeric virus-like particles (VLP) vaccine, especially for cancer vaccines; Novel antibiotics development including antimicrobial peptides; Epitomics and multi-epitope peptide vaccine development for pathogenic viruses.

Barbara L Langille

I am currently an Associate Research Scientist at the Huntsman Marine Science Centre, working in the Atlantic salmon breeding and genetics division. I am tackling various research projects that involve genomically characterizing qualitative and quantitative traits. I recently finished a postdoc position at the Bedford Institute of Oceanography, working on various population structure and evolutionary genetics projects. Specifically, I was focusing on mito-nuclear interactions in trans-Atlantic fish, environmental associations and population structure in cleaner fish, and structural variants.

Dr. Barbara Langille obtained a PhD from the University of Adelaide, where she investigated the regression of vision/eye genes in subterranean diving beetles, evaluated modes of speciation, and determined behavioral responses of eyeless beetles to light. Dr. Langille also obtained a MSc from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador, where she investigated the refugial origins and hybridization of freshwater fish.

Claudia Scorolli

I am a Cognitive Scientist working as Associate Professor at the Department of Philosophy and Communication Studies of the University of Bologna.

I obtained my PhD in Philosophy of Language, Linguistics and Cognitive Sciences in 2009 at the University of Bologna, and my PsyD in Clinical Psychology, specialized in Analytical Psychodrama, in 2014 at the Mosaico Institute of Bologna (certified by MIUR).

My research has been focused on grounding of language in sensorimotor processes, as well as on language as social tool which modifies human's way to interact with the world. My experimental work currently extends to the study of the possibilities for physical/social interactions offered by the current interactive context, i.e. physical and social affordances. My scientific interest includes the investigation of cultural factors influencing cognitive and emotional processes.

From a clinical perspective, I have scrutinized new clinical interventions in the field of neurocognitive disorders, as psychosocial interventions for people with dementia.
