I studied Statistics and Computer Sciences at the Technical University of Dortmund, Germany. During that time, my interest was particularly in mathematical statistics with a focus on high-dimensional extensions of the univariate median. After graduating, I moved to Tampere, Finland and completed my PhD in at the University of Tampere in Biostatistics with minor Bioinformatics.
While still being enrolled as PhD student at the University I started to work as a researcher in Bioinformatics at the MTT, Jokioinen, Finland. Since 2015 I am working at the Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) where I finalized my PhD.
My published articles in peer-reviewed journals cover a wide range of applications as well as statistical theory. My areas of expertise are target gene detection, biomarker identification and novel gene detection with a special focus on long non-coding RNAs. Further, I have experiences in the development of statistical methods for DE testing as well as deriving novel non-parametrical tests for (e)QTL analyses. I published and maintain currently six R-packages, i.e. for (e)QTL testing, cross-species ortholog detection and dimension reduction methods.
The goal of my research is to understand what causes reading and language difficulties in children, how these difficulties can be identified and treated effectively, and how they relate to emotional health. I am a passionate advocate for the rapid translation of evidence-based knowledge into practice.
Over the last 25 years, I have held academic positions at the University of Western Australia, Curtin University, Oxford University, and Macquarie University. I am currently the Translational Director of the Macquarie University Centre of Reading, the Founding Director of the Macquarie University Reading Clinic, and Project Manager of MOTIf (Macquarie Online Test Interface; www.motif.org.au).

Former Vice President for Research & Economic Development, currently the Charles and Hilda Roddey Distinguished Professor in Chemical Engineering and Ike East Professor in Chemical Engineering, Louisiana State University. Elected Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) and the National Academy of Inventors (NAI). Recipient of AIChE/ACS Charles E Coates award in 2012. Research area is in environmental chemical engineering. He has broad research experience in wastewater treatment, atmospheric chemistry and, modeling the fate and transport of contaminants in all three environmental media (air, water and soil/sediment). Present research is concerned with the transformations of pollutants on atmospheric aerosols (fog, rain, ice and snow), mercury sequestration in sediments and, studies on chemical dispersant design for sub-sea oil/gas spill. He is the author of 1 widely accepted textbook (with four editions), 200 peer-reviewed journal articles, 27 book chapters and 2 U.S. patents. He has made over 250 national and international presentations and 28 invited seminars and plenary lectures on his research. His research has been supported by the NSF, EPA, DOE, DOD, USGS and several private industries.
Dr Julian Blasco received his Ph.D. from the University of Seville (Chemistry). He is Scientist in the Institute of Marine Sciences of Andalusia (ICMAN), belonging to the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).He was Director of ICMAN-CSIC (2015-2023) and he is responsible of research group "Ecotoxicology, Ecophysiology and Biodiversity of Aquatic Systems". He has published more than 230 articles in SCI journals and has been editors of several books. He is a member of the editorial boards of several journals in marine and environmental sciences.
Dr. Fernanda Michalski is Associate Professor of Ecology and Conservation of Vertebrates at the Federal University of Amapá, Macapá, Brazil. Member of the British Ecological Society. Her research focuses on understanding the effects of anthropogenic disturbance on Neotropical mid sized and large-bodied vertebrates. She is particularly interested in ecology and conservation of mammals, and in understanding human-wildlife conflicts in the Brazilian Amazon.
I am a marine biologist working as a fishery and benthic researcher at the Institute for Marine Resources and Biotechnologies (IRBIM) of the National Researche Council (CNR) in Ancona, Italy. I held my PhD in 2010 at the The Open University (Milton Keynes, UK) working at the Stazione Zoologica A. Dohrn of Naples (Italy) where I conducted a study on the spatial and temporal distribution of macro benthic assemblages associated to Posidonia oceanica seagrass and on several features of the plant itself. I got a Master degree in 2005 at the Polytechnic University of Marche after the Bachelor's degree in Marine Biology at the same university in 2004. I participated in several surveys at sea in the last years as well as to several diving expeditions in the Indian Ocean and Mediterranean Sea.

Dr. Victor Coswig has a bachelor's degree, a Master's degree and a PhD in Physical Education from the Superior School of Physical Education of the Federal University of Pelotas (Pelotas, Brazil). He is currently Adjunct Professor and Researcher at the Physical Education and Sports Institute of the Federal University of Ceará (Fortaleza, Brazil), where he is investigating topic related to sports medicine and training.
His current research focuses on acute and chronic responses to exercise, training and sports practice, mainly, but not exclusive to combat sports performance.
Servet has PhD in fisheries Genetics, marine biotechnology and marine biology. He currently works to Assist Prof. Dr. at Underwater Technologies, Maritime Vocational School of Higher Education at Iskenderun Technical University. Also, he has expertise in population genetics, conservation genetics, marine biodiversity and alien species. Doğdu has published over 80 scientific papers, books and book chapters on these areas. Doğdu has worked on several national and international projects.
