Meir M Barak
I received my bachelor degree (B.Sc) in animal science and my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from The Hebrew University (Rehovot, Israel). I received my Ph.D. in bone biomechanics and my teaching certificate (biology teacher for high schools) from the Weizmann institute of Science. During my Ph.D. my research focused on the relation between trabecular bone structure and whole bone mechanical function. Next, I started a joint Postdoc position at Harvard University's Department of Human Evolutionary Biology (Cambridge, MA) and The Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology (Leipzig, Germany). There, I did research on extinct hominins bipedal locomotion (Australopithecines) and its manifestation in the structure of the ankle's trabecular bone.
In 2012, I became a teaching fellow at Harvard University and later I accepted a lecturer position. I taught the labs for “Life Science 2” (anatomy and physiology) and my own course - “Bone Biology and Biomechanics”. In 2013, I accepted an Assistant Professor position at Winthrop University (Rock Hill, SC) and started to teach during Fall semester 2013. At Winthrop I taught “Human Anatomy” (lectures and labs), “The Biology of Bone” (lectures and labs), and other undergraduate and graduate courses (both for Biology and non-Biology majors). In January 2019 I accepted an Associate Professor of anatomy position at the Lewyt College of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Vet Biomedical Sciences at Long Island University. Currently Dr. Barak serves as Professor of Anatomy and Assistant Dean of Admissions at the Lewyt College of Veterinary Medicine at Long Island University
Cho-ying Huang
Cho-ying Huang is a professor in the Department of Geography at National Taiwan University. His research interests include global ecology, terrestrial biogeochemistry and remote sensing of the environment.
Selina Khoo
Selina Khoo is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Science, Universiti Malaya, Malaysia. Her research is related to participation of sports and physical activity for various populations, including older adults, persons with disabilities, women, and cancer survivors. This includes determining prevalence of physical activity, motives for participation, and interventions to increase physical activity. She also examines various aspects of disability sport, including accessibility, barriers and facilitators to participation, and media coverage. Selina is currently the country contact for Malaysia on the Global Observatory for Physical Activity and Vice President of the Asian Society for Adapted Physical Education and Exercise.
Martin Daumer
Dr Martin Daumer: Director of the SLCMSR e.v. - The Human Motion Institute in Munich and managing director of the IT company, Trium Analysis Online GmbH. He is also visiting lecturer for Telemedicine and Clinical Applications of Computational Medicine at the Technical University Munich.
Dr Daumer received a diploma in Physics in 1990 and a Ph.D. in mathematics from the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich in 1995, after having worked at CERN, Switzerland, and Rutgers University, USA.
Genevieve M McArthur
The goal of my research is to understand what causes reading and language difficulties in children, how these difficulties can be identified and treated effectively, and how they relate to emotional health. I am a passionate advocate for the rapid translation of evidence-based knowledge into practice.
Over the last 25 years, I have held academic positions at the University of Western Australia, Curtin University, Oxford University, and Macquarie University. I am currently the Translational Director of the Macquarie University Centre of Reading, the Founding Director of the Macquarie University Reading Clinic, and Project Manager of MOTIf (Macquarie Online Test Interface; www.motif.org.au).
Joanna Moraczewska
Professor at Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydogszcz, Faculty of Biological Sciences, Poland. Head of the Department of Biochemistry and Cell Biology. Our research concentrates on molecular mechanisms of actin filament regulation in muscle and non-muscle cells.
Victor S Coswig
Dr. Victor Coswig has a bachelor's degree, a Master's degree and a PhD in Physical Education from the Superior School of Physical Education of the Federal University of Pelotas (Pelotas, Brazil). He is currently Adjunct Professor and Researcher at the Physical Education and Sports Institute of the Federal University of Ceará (Fortaleza, Brazil), where he is investigating topic related to sports medicine and training.
His current research focuses on acute and chronic responses to exercise, training and sports practice, mainly, but not exclusive to combat sports performance.
Filipe Prazeres
Prof. Filipe Prazeres is an integrated doctoral researcher in the Health for All research group, in the Research Line (LT1) - Preventive Medicine & Societal Challenges - Center for Health Technology and Services Research (CINTESIS). He has a PhD in Medicine from the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Beira Interior with the thesis “MM-PT study: multimorbidity in primary care” (2018). Prof. Prazeres research interest is focused on patients who present multiple chronic medical conditions (multimorbidity) in primary care settings. His work addresses the epidemiological description of multimorbidity and its consequences, as well as relations between multimorbidity and psychosocial and sociodemographic characteristics, health and disease determinants, chronic illness management, patient-centered care, using quantitative and qualitative methodologies.
Valsaraj KT
Former Vice President for Research & Economic Development, currently the Charles and Hilda Roddey Distinguished Professor in Chemical Engineering and Ike East Professor in Chemical Engineering, Louisiana State University. Elected Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) and the National Academy of Inventors (NAI). Recipient of AIChE/ACS Charles E Coates award in 2012. Research area is in environmental chemical engineering. He has broad research experience in wastewater treatment, atmospheric chemistry and, modeling the fate and transport of contaminants in all three environmental media (air, water and soil/sediment). Present research is concerned with the transformations of pollutants on atmospheric aerosols (fog, rain, ice and snow), mercury sequestration in sediments and, studies on chemical dispersant design for sub-sea oil/gas spill. He is the author of 1 widely accepted textbook (with four editions), 200 peer-reviewed journal articles, 27 book chapters and 2 U.S. patents. He has made over 250 national and international presentations and 28 invited seminars and plenary lectures on his research. His research has been supported by the NSF, EPA, DOE, DOD, USGS and several private industries.
Julian Blasco
Dr Julian Blasco received his Ph.D. from the University of Seville (Chemistry). He is Scientist in the Institute of Marine Sciences of Andalusia (ICMAN), belonging to the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).He was Director of ICMAN-CSIC (2015-2023) and he is responsible of research group "Ecotoxicology, Ecophysiology and Biodiversity of Aquatic Systems". He has published more than 230 articles in SCI journals and has been editors of several books. He is a member of the editorial boards of several journals in marine and environmental sciences.
Fernanda Michalski
Dr. Fernanda Michalski is Associate Professor of Ecology and Conservation of Vertebrates at the Federal University of Amapá, Macapá, Brazil. Member of the British Ecological Society. Her research focuses on understanding the effects of anthropogenic disturbance on Neotropical mid sized and large-bodied vertebrates. She is particularly interested in ecology and conservation of mammals, and in understanding human-wildlife conflicts in the Brazilian Amazon.
Claudio Vasapollo
I am a marine biologist working as a fishery and benthic researcher at the Institute for Marine Resources and Biotechnologies (IRBIM) of the National Researche Council (CNR) in Ancona, Italy. I held my PhD in 2010 at the The Open University (Milton Keynes, UK) working at the Stazione Zoologica A. Dohrn of Naples (Italy) where I conducted a study on the spatial and temporal distribution of macro benthic assemblages associated to Posidonia oceanica seagrass and on several features of the plant itself. I got a Master degree in 2005 at the Polytechnic University of Marche after the Bachelor's degree in Marine Biology at the same university in 2004. I participated in several surveys at sea in the last years as well as to several diving expeditions in the Indian Ocean and Mediterranean Sea.
