Fiore Capozzi
Fiore Capozzi is a researcher in Botany at the Department of Biology at Univeristy of Naples Federico II. His research interests concern: i) studies of plants as biomonitor of air quality; ii) studies on phytoremediation and on the effects of pollutants on plant organisms; iii) studies on factors affecting the growth of plants in Space environment.
Hong Yang
Dr. Hong Yang is a Associate Professor in Environmental Science, Department of Geography and Environmental Science, University of Reading, UK. His research interests include the effects of climate change and human activities on water environment, water-energy-carbon nexus, and resource management. He has led and been involved in research projects funded by UK Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH), European Research Council (ERC), Research Council of Norway (RCN), Chinese Natural Science Foundation (CNSF) and Chinese Academy of Science (CAS).
Nikolaos Gkantidis
Nikolaos Gkantidis has been a full-time Senior Staff Member at the Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, University of Bern, Switzerland, since 2016. He earned the Venia Docendi (Privatdozent) title from the same institution in 2018 and the Assoc. Prof. title in 2024. Prof. Gkantidis graduated from the Dental School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece (2006). Subsequently, he pursued a post-graduate program in Orthodontics at the University of Athens, graduating with honours (2010), and run an orthodontic practice in Thessaloniki (2010-2016). Prof. Gkantidis completed his doctoral studies in Bern (2013) and also served as a part-time staff member of the Department (2012-2016). In 2022, he obtained a Ph.D. degree from the University of Groningen, the Netherlands.
Prof. Gkantidis has published numerous original research papers and forged national and international collaborations in key research areas, which include the development and utilization of 3D imaging techniques in clinical research and practice, the study of facial attractiveness, and the investigation of craniofacial form. For his innovative work he has received various national and international grants and awards.
Yunpeng Cao
Dr Yunpeng Cao is Associate Researcher (CAS Key Laboratory of Plant Germplasm Enhancement and Specialty Agriculture) at Wuhan Botanical Garden, Chinese Academy of Sciences. His research interests mainly focus on the Systematics and Evolution, Genomics, Fruit Development and Regulatory Mechanism.
Giuseppe Fenu
Associate Professor in Systematic Botany at the University of Cagliari. My current research interests focus on the study of plant diversity of the Mediterranean systems, the main drivers that determine the distribution patterns and the conservation status of the endemic plants in these environments, as well as interactions, both at a specific and population levels, with environmental factors related to the anthropic presence including the on-going global change.
Javier Alvarez-Rodriguez
My research concerns the influence of nutritional and management strategies on livestock physiology and product (milk and meat) quality (sheep, cattle and swine).
Minjun Chen
Minjun Chen is a principal investigator working at the Division of Bioinformatics and Biostatics of the US FDA’s National Center for Toxicological Research and serve as the adjunct faculty and mentor for the bioinformatics program joint by Univ. of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) and Univ. of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). Currently, he co-chairs the FDA Liver Toxicity Working Group since 2014 and is the editor of the Springer book titled “Drug-induced Liver Toxicity”. His primary research interests encompass drug-induced liver injury, drug safety, bioinformatics, and personalized medicine. He has authored or co-authored more than 80 scientific publications and book chapters.
James Baxter-Gilbert
I am a Assistant Professor at Mount Allison University in Sackville, NB, Canada, where I teach a variety of biology and science communication courses. The central core of my research examines how anthropogenic landscapes and actions impact wildlife. Commonly my research examines how phenotypic change, triggered by urbanisation or biological invasion, may allow reptiles and amphibians the ability to meet the challenges of a human-dominated world.
I completed my BSc (Biology), GDip (Science Communication), and MSc (Biology) at Laurentian University. My MSc research examined: (1) the effectiveness of mitigation structures at reducing reptile road mortality while maintaining population connectivity and (2) developing techniques for evaluating chronic stress in reptiles relating to roads and traffic. I completed my PhD at Macquarie University, which examined how Australian Water Dragons were responding to anthropogenic habitats through urban-derived divergent phenotypes; testing behavioural, morphological, and physiology traits between urbanise and natural-living populations. I then when on to conduct postdoctoral research at Stellenbosch University in the Centre for Invasion Biology examining how biological invasion were impacting the behavioural, morphological, and physiology traits of Guttural Toads as they transition from native to invasive, and urban to natural habitats. My research now examine the interplay between urban evolutionary ecology and invasion science, using herpetofauna as a model system.
Prashanth Ravishankar
Dr. Prashanth Ravishankar received his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Arkansas. He is a Research and Development Scientist at Namida Lab Inc.
He has over a decade of experience in areas of Bioengineering, Biomaterials, Mechanobiology, Tissue Engineering, and Bone and Cardiovascular Bioengineering. He has presented at international conferences in the USA, Canada, and Abu Dhabi. He also serves as an editorial member on BMC Research Notes and as a reviewer for journals and conferences.
Sven Rahmann
Prof. Sven Rahmann is professor of Algorithmic Bioinformatics at the Center for Bioinformatics, Saarland University, Saarbrücken, Germany. Previously, Sven was UA Ruhr Professor of Computational Biology and Genome Informatics at the Faculty of Medicine at Duisburg-Essen University (2011-2021), associate professor for Bioinformatics for High-Throughput Technologies at the Chair of Algorithm Engineering, Computer Science Department, TU Dortmund (2007-2011). Sven wrote his doctoral thesis on oligonucleotide design for microarrays in the Computational Molecular Biology group at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics in Berlin.
Mark A Robinson
Mark’s research interests are related to musculoskeletal loading, injury and impairment in the lower limbs. Of particular interest are lower limb injuries, monitoring of training loads, gait and biomechanical data analysis. He has published >70 journal articles in these areas and has >90 verified reviews. He hosted the 2022 conference of the International Society of Biomechanics in Sports in Liverpool.
