His research interests include Applied Data Science, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Computer-aided Drug Design, Bioinformatics, and Health informatics.
Olorunseun O Ogunwobi
Dr. Ogunwobi obtained a medical degree from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, a master's degree in biomedicine from the University of Hull, United Kingdom, a master's degree in clinical and translational science from the University of Florida, Gainesville, and a PhD in molecular biology from the University of East Anglia, Norwich, United Kingdom. He was the Founding Director of the Hunter College Center for Cancer Health Disparities Research. He is now the Barnett Rosenberg Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and Chairperson in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Michigan State University. In addition, he will serve as Co-Director of the forthcoming Center for Cancer Health Equity Research (CCHER) at Michigan State University. He is a translational cancer biologist whose work focuses on molecular mechanisms of progression of solid organ cancers with racial disparities, and on approaches to leverage non-coding RNA biology for potential clinical applications in cancer. His work has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, New York State, Carnegie Corporation of New York, and the National Science Foundation, among others. Dr. Ogunwobi was a Founding Contact Principal Investigator of the Synergistic Partnership for Enhancing Equity in Cancer Health (SPEECH) funded by U54 grants CA221704 and CA221705 from the National Cancer Institute. An author of 74 peer-reviewed journal articles and 3 book chapters, Dr. Ogunwobi has been issued 5 US patents for biotechnology inventions with potential clinical applications in cancer. He is the recipient of the 2022 Hunter College Presidential Award for Excellence in Scholarship or Creative Activity, and selected as a Jefferson Science Fellow by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, and as a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine Specialties of Nigeria. He is Co-Founder of UTR Therapeutics, Inc (winner of the 2023 XSeed Award from Deerfield), and NucleoBio, Inc.
Claire B Paris
Claire Beatrix Paris is a Professor in the department of Ocean Science, University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science. Director of the Physical-Biological Interactions Lab, she focuses on biophysical dispersion at sea, as well as the transport and fate of pollutants and oil spills from deep-sea blowout. Paris has brought recognition to the key role of behavior of the pelagic larval stage in the connectivity of marine populations and the function of ecosystems.
Paris has developed numerical and empirical tools for her laboratory’s research, both used worldwide: the Connectivity Modeling System (CMS) is an Open-Source Software (OSS) that virtually tracks biotic and abiotic particles in the ocean, and the Drifting In Situ Chamber (DISC) is a field instrument used to track the movement behavior of the early life history stages of marine organisms and detect the signals they use to orient and navigate.
Yonghong Peng
Dr. Peng is a Professor of Data Science at the University of Sunderland. He is a Principal Investigator in Bioinformatics and Systems Biology and Medicine, and Principal Data Scientist working on Big Data Integration, Data Mining and Computational Intelligence. Dr. Peng's Data Science and BioMedical informatics (DS & BMI) research group focuses on development of innovative data analytics approaches to enable systematical analysis of biological data, medical images, and healthcare data and to gain new knowledge and insights from the integrative analytics of diverse data sources.
James B Procter
I studied Chemistry at The University of York, Computer Science at The University of Leeds, and obtained a PhD at the Australian National University. I worked on the comparison, classification and prediction of protein structure at ANU and in Germany at the University of Hamburg before joining the Jalview project in Dundee in 2004.
I co-founded the VIZBI conference in 2009, and joined PeerJ CS as Academic Editor in 2014. I serve on a variety of biological and computer science peer review panels and conference program committees. I'm interested in how we can do better science by creating better tools for data analysis and communication.
Rommel T J Ramos
The Rommel Ramos Professor of Bioinformatics of Federal University of Para (Brazil) affiliated member of Brazilian Science Academy and CNPq Researcher (level 1-D). Since 2008 works with genome assembly and RNA-Seq analysis, he is the leader of the bioinformatic development group of the Biologic Engineering Laboratory in Park of Science and Technology (Pará/Brazil).
Torbjørn Rognes
Torbjørn Rognes is the Head of the Biomedical Informatics Research Group at the Department of Informatics at the University of Oslo, and a research scientist at the Department of Microbiology at Oslo University Hospital, Norway. He obtained a MSc in computer science in 1994, a PhD in bioinformatics in 2001 and a professorship in 2010. His main interest is in development of algorithms and tools for sequence analysis, and has recently worked mostly with metagenomics and metabarcoding. He is a co-author of the VSEARCH, Swarm and SWIPE tools.

Timothy D Scheibe
Laboratory Fellow at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), and Lead Scientist at the Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory (EMSL), a scientific user facility located at PNNL. Research interests emphasize coupled hydrologic and biogeochemical processes as they control water quality, ecosystem health, and contaminant transport and fate. Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to perform integrated computational and experimental research across a wide range of physical scales from molecules and cells to aquifers and watersheds. Was selected by the National Ground Water Association to serve as the 2010 Henry Darcy Distinguished Lecturer, in which role he presented 65 invited lectures across North America and Europe.

Kamran Shaukat
Dr Kamran Shaukat is a Senior Learning Facilitator at Torrens University Australia and a researcher in the Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research and Optimisation. With more than 12 years of teaching and research experience, he specialises in artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, cybersecurity, malware detection and health informatics. Kamran is recognised in the top 2% of researchers globally, with more than 75 peer-reviewed publications, four authored books, an h-index of 36 and over 5,600 citations. He has demonstrated excellence in curriculum development, PhD supervision and international academic collaboration, and is committed to leading industry-relevant programs and interdisciplinary research. Kamran holds a PhD in Computer Science and a Master of Science in Computer Science, and is a member of both ACM and IEEE.
