Ghufran Ahmad's research focuses on microeconomic theory specifically dealing with resource allocation, social choice, and matching problems. He is currently working as an Assistant Professor at NUST Business School, Pakistan.
He received his B.Sc. (Hons) in Economics from Lahore University of Management Sciences, Pakistan in 2012. After that, he joined Texas A&M University in College Station, TX, USA to pursue his Ph.D. in Economics, completing it in 2017 under the supervision of Dr. Guoqiang Tian and Dr. Vikram Manjunath.
Dr. Irfan Ahmad is an Assistant Professor in Information and Computer Science department at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. He received his PhD in Computer Science from TU Dortmund, Germany in 2017.
Dr. Ahmad's research interests are in the areas of pattern recognition especially in document-image analysis, handwriting recognition, and machine-printed text recognition. In addition, he is also interested in machine learning and its applications including deep learning and natural language processing (NLP).
Héctor Alaiz-Moretón received his degree in Computer Science, performing the final Project at Dublin Institute of Technology, in 2003. He received his PhD in Information Technologies in 2008 (University of Leon). He has worked as a lecturer since 2005 at the School of Engineering at the University of Leon.
His research interests include knowledge engineering, machine and deep learning, networks communication, and security.
He has several works published in international conferences, as well as books, more than 90 scientific publications between JCR papers, Lecture Notes and Scientific Workshops. He has been a member of scientific committees in conferences. He has headed several PhD Thesis and research competitive projects. He is also the vice main of RIASC (Institute of Applied Sciences to Cybersecurity).
Vicente Alarcon-Aquino received his Ph.D. and D.I.C. degrees in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Imperial College London, London, U.K. in 2003. He is currently a Professor and former department head in the Department of Computing, Electronics, and Mechatronics at the Universidad de las Americas Puebla, Mexico. In 2017, he spent a short-term research stay as a Visiting Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Informatics at King's College London, UK. He has authored over 180 research articles in several refereed journals and conference proceedings, has written a book on MPLS networks, and has several citations to his research articles. He has served as Guest Editor for the Journal of Universal Computer Science, and is currently acting as an Associate Editor for IEEE Access Journal and as an Academic Editor for PeerJ Computer Science. He is a Senior Member of IEEE, belongs to the Mexican National System of Researchers, and has been elected to membership of the Mexican Academy of Sciences. His current research interests include cybersecurity, network monitoring, anomaly detection, wavelet analysis, and machine learning.
Prof. Alatas received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees from Firat University. He works as a Professor of Software Engineering at Firat University and he is the head of same department. He is the founder head of the Computer Engineering Department of Munzur University and Software Engineering Department of Firat University. His research interests include artificial intelligence, data mining, social network analysis, metaheuristic optimization, and machine learning. Dr. Alatas has published over 250 papers in many well-known international journals and proceedings of the refereed conference since 2001. He has been editor of twelve journals five of which are indexed in SCI and reviewer of seventy SCI-indexed journals.
Giovanni Angiulli received the Laurea (Master's degree) in Computer Science Engineering from the University of Calabria (Italy) and the Dottorato di Ricerca (PhD degree) in Electronics and Computer Science Engineering from the University of Napoli Federico II, Italy, in 1993 and 1998, respectively. Since 1999, he has been with the Department of Information, Infrastructures, and Sustainable Energy (DIIES, formerly DIMET) at the University Mediterranea of Reggio Calabria, Italy, as an Adjunct Professor. His main research activities concern Computational Electromagnetics, Group Theory methods, and Surrogate ModellingTechniques applied to model microwave circuits and antennas. He also worked on microwave imaging to detect female breast tumors and Ground Penetrating Radar applications in cultural heritage in the last years. He is a Senior Member of IEEE (2015) and a Member of IEICE (2013). In addition, he serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE Access. In recognition of his exceptional contributions, he has been honoured as an Outstanding Associate Editor for 2018 by the IEEE Access Editorial Board. He served as a Guest Editor for Mathematics (MDPI) Special Issue on “Surrogate modeling and related methods in science and engineering” (2021).
I am an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) at the Department of Humanities and Cultural Heritage (DIUM) of the University of Udine. In addition, I am part of the Data Science and Automatic Verification Laboratory, at the Department of Mathematics, Computer Science and Physics (DMIF) at the same University. As a figure straddling the two departments, I am part of the board of directors of the AI4CH Initiative, and I am interested in both practical aspects of Artificial Intelligence and philosophical issues. I am and have been a core member of several national and international projects with both institutional and corporate partners, such as u-blox, SAL Silicon Austria Labs, GAP srlu, and beanTech.
Dr. Aswani Kumar Cherukuri is a Professor at Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), India. His research interests include information security and machine learning. Aswani Kumar earned the Young Scientist Fellowship from Tamilnadu State Council for Science and Technology and was awarded the Inspiring Teacher Award from The Indian Express (India’s leading English daily newspaper). He has worked on various research projects funded by the Government of India’s Department of Science and Technology, the Department of Atomic Energy, and the Ministry of Human Resources Development. Aswani Kumar has published more than 150 refereed research articles in various national/international journals and conferences and is an editorial board member for several international journals. He is a Senior Member and distinguished speaker of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and Vice-Chair of the IEEE Taskforce on Educational Data Mining. Aswani Kumar earned a PhD in informational retrieval, data mining, and soft-computing techniques from VIT.
Paulo Coelho graduated in Electrical Engineering in 2004 from Coimbra University, obtained his Specialization Course in Automation and Control in 2007 by Coimbra University, and a Ph.D. in Informatics in 2019 by Trás-Os-Montes and Alto Douro University.
He is an Adjunct Professor at the Electrical Engineering Department at the School of Technology and Management of the Polytechnic of Leiria, where he has mainly lectured Curricular Units in the areas of Microprocessors, Industrial Automation and Computer Vision since 2004.
Paulo Coelho is currently a Member of the Scientific-Pedagogical Committee for the Master's in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Polytechnic of Leiria, and he was previously the course director. He is currently an integrated researcher at ROBiTECH (Advanced Robotics and Smart Factories) group, in the INESC Coimbra (delegation in Leiria). He is also a member of the Portuguese Engineers Order.
His research interests are focused on industrial automation, computer vision, biomedical imaging analysis, and the application of machine learning and deep learning in their research areas.
Dr. Shanmuga Sundar Dhanabalan is an accomplished researcher with a proven track record in designing, developing, and translating micro- and nano-scale devices. CIA’s primary objective is to advance the field of medical and healthcare by creating next-generation products that enhance quality of life and well-being, making a significant contribution to society. He is currently leading a team developing ‘wearable and connected sensors’ at RMIT University, focusing on materials, flexible and stretchable devices, wearables, optics, and photonics. CIA graduated with a Ph.D. in flexible electronics in June 2017. He secured a competitive Postdoctoral Fellowship from the Chilean government from 2018 to 2021. In 2021, he joined as a Research Fellow at RMIT University in Melbourne. CIA studies have led to 38 publications in referred international journals, 1 provisional patent, 1 Indian patent, 10 book chapters, and 7 books in progress as editor. He has presented at 19 national and international conferences. Several outcomes have been highlighted by scientific websites (such as Photonics Media, USA). CIA's research work has led to securing grants from Australian government research schemes, such as the Cooperative Research Centres Projects, the ARC Research Hub for Connected Sensors for Health, Victorian Medical Research Acceleration Fund, and the Advanced Manufacturing Growth Centre's Commercialisation Fund.
Antonio J. Díaz-Honrubia is an Associate Professor at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, to which he joined after holding an Assistant Professorship at Universidad de Oviedo and a part time Professorship at Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha (a job that he combined with a position in the R&D department of a private company in the telecommunications field).
He received his Ph.D. in 2016 from the Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha, where he had also received his B.Sc. (Spanish National Extraordinary Award) and M.Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering.
His research interests include video transcoding, perceptual video coding, multimedia standards, scalable video coding, and simultaneous video coding. More recently, he is moving forward to the topic of data analysis and validation.
He has been a visiting researcher at Ghent University (Belgium) for 4 months, the Florida Atlantic University (USA) for 3 months, and the Technische Informationsbibliothek (TIB) (Germany) for 6 months.
He has more than 30 publications in these areas in international refereed journals and conference proceedings.
Andrea Esuli is a senior researcher of the Italian National Research Council. His research interests are in the fields of multimedia information retrieval, machine learning, and text classification. He holds a PhD in Information Engineering from the University of Pisa. He is the recipient of the 2010 Cor Baayen Award, from the European Research Council for Informatics and Mathematics.
