Dr. Santhana Krishna Kumar Alagarsamy

Dr. Santhana Krishna Kumar is an assistant professor (adjunct) from the faculty of Geology Geophysical and Environmental Protection at AGH University Science and Technology (2021– at present), in Poland.

He acquired wide variety of experimental knowledge, which mainly involved intricate research on remediation of chromium, mercury and arsenic for extensive elimination by suitably tailored solid support of carbon based adsorbents.

Kuntal Chatterjee

I am a postdoctoral fellow at UC Berkeley and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, USA. My expertise includes various spectroscopic (time-resolved and steady-state IR, UV-Vis, table top, synchrotron, and XFEL), mass spectrometric (TOF, quadrupole, ion traps), diffraction techniques, and ab initio calculations to probe structure, solvation and dynamics of biomolecules, aromatic hydrocarbons, and artificial photosynthetic molecules.

Sherif Ashraf Fahmy

Dr. Sherif Ashraf Fahmy obtained his B. Pharm with honors from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Cairo University, and his MSc (2015) and Ph. D. (2020) in Chemistry from The American University in Cairo. His Ph. D. was conducted in collaboration with the Department of Pharmaceutics & Biopharmaceutics, Faculty of Pharmacy, Philipps-Universität Marburg, Germany. Dr. Fahmy was selected as one of the first recipients of the prestigious and very competitive fellowship offered by the Alfi Foundation for Ph.D. students. He has also spent time as a Visiting Scholar at the Department of Pharmaceutics and Biopharmaceutics, Faculty of Pharmacy, Philipps University of Marburg, Germany, in 2018.

He has received several other awards and recognitions, most notably, the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC, UK) Travel Grant for Ph.D. students & Early Career Scientists in 2019, the Fulbright Scholarship at Ohio University in 2019, USA, and the Mobility Grant to participate in the Research Opportunity Week (ROW) organized by the Technical University of Munich in 2022. Dr. Fahmy has published several peer-reviewed articles in international journals and many abstracts at local and international conferences (H- index of 15). Dr. Fahmy’s research focuses on exploring novel herbal medicine, extracting and characterizing their major active ingredients, and investigating their anticancer activities. In addition, Dr. Fahmy’s research encompasses the design, physicochemical characterization, and biological evaluation of innovative targeted and functionalized drug delivery systems to treat cancer effectively. These systems are based on several nanomaterials, including but not limited to polymeric nanoparticles, naovesicles (niosomes, liposomes, bilosomes, etc.), supramolecular nanocontainers (calixarenes, cucurbiturils, cyclodextrins), and metallic nanoparticles.

Also, Dr. Fahmy is a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (MRSC), the American Chemical Society (ACS), and ESMO. Also, he serves as a reviewer for many international journals. Dr. Fahmy is a full-time Assistant Professor of Chemistry at the School of Life & Medical Sciences, University of Hertfordshire, Egypt Campus. Also, he is the Head and Founder of the Herbal Medicine & Nanotherapeutics research group at the same university.

Carlos Fernández Marcos

Carlos F. Marcos holds a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Santiago of Compostela, where he specialized in chemistry of heterocycles and total synthesis of natural products. He completed his training on the chemistry of the organometallic compounds at the University of Milan and at the Imperial College London, where he was awarded with a grant of the Human Capital and Mobility programme of the European Community.
In 1996 he joined the University of Extremadura, where he started a line of research on new sulfur heterocyclic materials, in collaboration with professors Charles Rees (Imperial College) and Tomás Torroba (UEx). From 2002, he leads a research group involved in the development of new synthetic methodologies. Throughout his career, he has supervised many research studies and has more than 50 publications indexed in frontline scientific journals. He has also made several stays as visiting professor in prestigious American and European research centres. From 2016, it holds a position as Full Professor at the University of Extremadura.
In recent years his research has focused in the chemistry of isocyanides, and especially their use to develop new tandem and multi-component processes. These synthetic strategies have proved to be a very advantageous approach to obtain organic materials with new properties, as well as compounds with biomedical interest.

Debabrata Goswami

Dr. Debabrata Goswami is the Prof. S. Sampath Endowed Chair Professor of Chemistry and Adjunct Professor of Center for Lasers and Photonics of IIT Kanpur. He is the elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, the Institute of Physics (UK), the Optical Society (OSA) and the SPIE. He is the winner of the 2018 Galileo Galilei Prize of the International Commission of Optics, the Thathachari Award, the Wellcome Trust Senior Research Fellowship, and the Swarnajayanti Fellow. He is the Vice President of the IEEE Photonics Society India, Past Chairman, Photonics-2016. He has written over 200 papers and was in the Editorial Board of the Rev of Scientific Reports (AIP).

Prof. Goswami is the Editor-in-Chief of PeerJ Analytical Chemistry.

Carmelo La Rosa

Carmelo La Rosa is a Professor of Physical-Chemistry at the University of Catania, Italy. He received a master’s degree in Chemistry and Ph.D. in Physical-Chemistry from the University of Catania (Italy), working on lyotropic liquid crystals. After completing postdoctoral training on thermodynamics and kinetics of protein folding-unfolding at the University of Catania and Leiden University (The Netherland), he joined the department of Chemical Sciences, University of Catania. His current research focuses on the biophysics of amyloidogenic proteins and their interaction with model membranes.

Brendan P Malone

My research focus is in using quantitative methods to precisely understand how soils function and change- spatially, and through time.

I research methods for comprehensive digital soil mapping aiming to characterize soil both in the lateral and vertical dimensions.

I research methods for quantifying (and validating) measures of uncertainty for these comprehensive soil information systems.

I investigate innovative systems for soil measurement, which includes that associated with remote and proximal and soil sensing instrumentation. I have particular interest in infrared and x-ray spectroscopy.

Maria Paula M Marques

Maria Paula Marques (October 1960, Portugal) received her MSc in Physical-Chemistry (1987), her PhD (1995) and her habillitation (2018) from the University of Coimbra (Portugal). M.P.M. Marques is currently an assistant professor at the Department of Life Sciences of the University of Coimbra, assistant-coordinator of the R&D Group “Molecular Physical-Chemistry” and head of the “Chemoprevention, -Therapy & -Toxicology” laboratory. M.P.M. Marques has authored 140 scientific papers, 8 book chapters and co-edited 3 books. She is a fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and a member of the Clinical Infrared and Raman Spectroscopy for Medical Diagnosis (CLIRSPEC), the portuguese delegate for the COST Action Raman4Clinics, an associate editor of RSC Advances and a member of the editorial board of Recent Patents on Anti-Cancer Drug Discovery.
Her research is centred on the development of metal-based antitumour agents and on the early diagnostics of cancer, using vibrational spectroscopy, including neutron techniques and synchrotron-based methods.

Daniel H. Murgida

Daniel H. Murgida, PhD, is a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Buenos Aires, Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences, and Principal Investigator of the National Research Council, CONICET, Argentina. His laboratory investigates structural, dynamics and mechanistic aspects of natural and chimeric electron transferring proteins and redox enzymes, with basic and applied purposes. This includes a variety of heme and copper metalloproteins that are investigated using spectroscopic, electrochemical and spectroelectrochemical methods in combination with protein engineering and computational simulations.
