Prof. Azevedo is frontiers section editor (Bioinformatics and Biophysics) for the Current Drug Targets, section editor (Bioinformatics in Drug Design and Discovery) for the Current Medicinal Chemistry, member of the editorial board of Current Bioinformatics, academic editor for PeerJ, and editor of Docking Screens for Drug Discovery (Methods of Molecular Biology)(Springer Nature). He holds a Ph.D. in Applied Physics from the University of São Paulo (USP)(1997). He is the coordinator of the Structural Biochemistry Laboratory at Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul. His research interests are interdisciplinary with two major emphases: molecular simulations and protein-ligand interactions. He published over 180 scientific papers about protein structures and computer models to assess intermolecular interactions involving proteins and potential ligands. Specializing in metabolomics, natural products chemistry, and plant biochemistry, Mohamed A. Farag completed his PhD at Texas Tech University, USA, in 2003.
Since 2009, Dr Farag has been working as a part time visiting professor at the Technical University of Munich, Germany, to participate in teaching plant metabolomics and chemomterics modelling for master students, and in 2009–2010 he held the Alexander von Humboldt fellowship at the Leibniz Institute for Plant Biochemistry, Germany. Dr Farag now works full time as a professor at the American University in Cairo (AUC) where his research work focuses primarily around applying innovative biochemical technologies (metabolomics) to help answer complex biological questions in medicine, herbal drugs analysis and agriculture.
Dr. Farag has been recognized with several awards, including Abd el Hameed Shoman award (2016), Egypt Higher State Incentive Award (2012), TWAS award in science diplomacy (2014), and the Mass Spectroscopy Performance Award, TTU, USA (2004). For his highly cited publications of 100 scientific papers with close to 3500 citations and an H index of 26, Dr. Farag was selected as a top researcher in the field of plant biology in Africa by the American society of plant biology, USA.
The research of Dr. Mohammed GAGAOUA is focused on the use of proteomics in the field of muscle to meat conversion and the development of fast and efficient aqueous techniques for protein purification. His research interests are at the interface of chemistry and biology with a focus on the use of protein biomarkers quantified by western-blotting, Dot-Blot and reverse phase protein arrays (RPPA) to manage meat quality and also to understand the mechanisms behind meat tenderizing. As a career achiever, Dr. Gagaoua has received the International Meat Science Award in 2015, the ICoMST2018 award by Robin Shorthouse for outstanding contribution to advancing Meat Science and the ICoMST2018 Meat Science award for best presentation. He has published more than 60 publications among them 43 peer-reviewed papers in international journals, 6 book chapters and has more than 40 communications in national and international congresses.
My research interests are in computational mass spectrometry, computational metabolomics and cheminformatics with a focus on structural elucidation of small molecules.

Pawel L. Urban received his MSc degree in biology from the University of Warsaw in 2002, and PhD degree in chemistry from the University of York in 2008. He conducted research stays in the University of Alcala, University of Warsaw, and ETH Zurich. The Urban’s laboratory was initially located in the National Chiao Tung University; then moved to the National Tsing Hua University. The team focuses on the development of enabling technologies for chemistry research and clinical analysis, their applications, as well as fundamental studies.
