Dr. Raul Arenal received his Ph.D. in Solid State Physics from U. Paris-Sud (Orsay, France, 2005) and in 2013, he obtained his Habilitation (HDR). From 2005 to 2007, he joined the Electron Microscopy Center in Argonne National Lab. (ANL, USA) as post doctoral fellow. In 2007, he became research scientist (Chargé de Recherches) at the CNRS (France). From 2010 to 2011, he was visiting scientist (sabbatical position) at the Lab. de Microscopias Avanzadas (LMA) at the Inst. de Nanociencia de Aragon (INA) of the U. Zaragoza (Spain). Since 2012, Dr. Arenal is on leave from the CNRS, and he is currently ARAID research scientist at the LMA-INA-U. Zaragoza. Since 2018, he is the Director of the TEM area of the LMA-INA. In addition, since 2008 he is visiting researcher at the ANL (USA). In 2017, Dr. Arenal has been elected member of the Young Academy of Europe (YAE) and also at the board of the YAE. He is also member of the board of the Spanish Microscopy Soc. (SME; 2013-2021). Dr. Arenal’s (http://www.raularenal.com) broad area of research interest lies in electron microscopy focused on materials science and nanoscience. These studies are mainly focused on the growth mechanism, structural and physical properties of nanomaterials based on carbon, boron and nitrogen as well as other nano-structures (in particular, metallic nano-objects for photonic interest). Full Professor of Environmental Chemistry at the University of Perugia. Coordinator of the Environmental Chemistry and Technology (ECT) research group. Member of the Italian Glaciological Committee (CGI) and Italian Aerosol Society (IAS). He participated in several Italian Arctic Expeditions (2011-2019). Italian delegate at the Arctic Science Forum Ministerial (Berlin, 2018).
Co-author of more than 150 scientific ISI publications, including well-renowned international journals of high impact factor (such as Nature, Angewandte Chemie, Journal of the American Chemical Society, Physical Review Letters, Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics). He has contributed to important review papers (Accounts of Chemical Research, International Reviews in Physical Chemistry, Progress in Surface Science, Advances in Quantum Chemistry).
Lead Editor of the Special Issues "Environmental Changes in the Arctic: an Italian Perspective" appeared on Rendiconti Lincei (2016, Springer) and "Mineral Dust: Sources, Atmospheric Processing and Impacts" appeared on Atmosphere (2018, MDPI).
Research in the ECT group is based on the chemical and morphological characterization of atmospheric aerosols in the urban, remote and indoor environments, vertical profile measurements of aerosol properties by tethered balloon experiments and aerosol source apportionment methodologies, implementation and optimization of chemical transport models (Lagrangian and Eulerian).
Dr. Debabrata Goswami is the Prof. S. Sampath Endowed Chair Professor of Chemistry and Adjunct Professor of Center for Lasers and Photonics of IIT Kanpur. He is the elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, the Institute of Physics (UK), the Optical Society (OSA) and the SPIE. He is the winner of the 2018 Galileo Galilei Prize of the International Commission of Optics, the Thatachary Award, the Wellcome Trust Senior Research Fellowship, and the Swarnajayanti Fellow. He is the Vice President of the IEEE Photonics Society India, Past Chairman, Photonics-2016. He has written over 200 papers and was in the Editorial Board of the Rev of Scientific Reports (AIP).
E. Pinilla-Gil is an associate professor at the University of Extremadura in Badajoz, Spain (department of Analytical Chemistry). He received his B.Sc. in Chemistry (1987) at the University of Extremadura, and a Ph.D. in Chemistry (1991) at the same university. The main topic of his research work is the development of analytical methods for the determination of pollutants in environmental samples, with a special focus on miniaturization and portability of electroanalytical instruments for pollution monitoring. He is also interested in novel environmental sampling techniques, sample pretreatment techniques, and pollution impact assessment.
Pawel L. Urban received his MSc degree in biology from the University of Warsaw in 2002, and PhD degree in chemistry from the University of York in 2008. He conducted research stays in the University of Alcala, University of Warsaw, and ETH Zurich. The Urban’s laboratory was initially located in the National Chiao Tung University; then moved to the National Tsing Hua University. The team focuses on the development of enabling technologies for chemistry research and clinical analysis, their applications, as well as fundamental studies.
Prof. Dr. Mehmet Yaman received his Ph.D. in 1990 from the University of Inonu, Malatya-Turkey. Since 2002, he has been a Full Professor of Analytical Chemistry at the University of Firat. Since 2005, he is an Editor-in-Chief of, the "International Journal of Pure and Applied Chemistry” journal- Global Research Publications, New Delhi-India. He supervised and assisted more than thirty students 11 Ph.D.; 22 M.Sc.
Mehmet Yaman has a track record of 120 publications (corresponding author in most of them) in peer-reviewed scientific journals (including Curr. Med. Chem. and J. Med. Chem.) and more than 3,000 citations. He is an invited speaker for international lectures and has given more than 130 talks for national and international conferences. Dr. Yaman is on the Editorial Boards of more than 10 journals and serves as a referee for more than 12 peer reviewed journals in the fields of chemistry, medicine and environment. Prof. Yaman’s research focuses on the preconcentration and determination of toxic trace elements in biological, environmental and food matrices as well as determination of trace organic compounds such as histidine, flavonoids, anthocyanins, PAHs and acrylamide in plants and grilled foodstuffs by using HPLC-MS.
Professor Yaman has managed two national and two international conferences.
