Marta Lovino

Dr. Marta Lovino is an assistant professor with a time contract at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, since 2023. She obtained her Ph.D. in Computer and Control Engineering with honors from Politecnico di Torino in 2021 and joined the AImage lab group as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow.

Dr. Lovino's primary research interests include cancer prognosis prediction, gene expression analysis, miRNA target prediction, gene regulatory networks, gene fusions, and multi-omics data integration. With a particular focus on leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) in the field of genetics to improve the understanding of cancer biology and enhance patient care.

C. Titus Brown

Titus Brown received his BA in Math from Reed College in 1997, and his PhD in Developmental Biology at Caltech in 2006. He has worked in digital evolution, climate measurements, molecular and evolutionary developmental biology, and both regulatory genomics and transcriptomics. His current focus is on using novel computer science data structures and algorithms to explore big sequencing data sets from metagenomics and transcriptomics.

Woorham Bae

Woorham Bae received his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical and computer engineering from Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea, in 2010 and 2016, respectively.

In 2016, he was with the Inter-University Semiconductor Research Center, Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea. From 2017 to 2019, he was with the University of California, Berkeley, CA, as a Postdoctoral Researcher. He is currently a Senior Engineer with Ayar Labs, Santa Clara, CA. He is the author of Analysis and Design of CMOS Clocking Circuits for Low Phase Noise (London, UK: Institution of Engineering and Technology). His current research interests include integrated circuits for silicon photonics, high-speed I/O circuits and architectures, non-volatile memory systems, and agile hardware design methodology.

Dr. Bae serves as an Associate Editor of IEEE Access (2018~) and an Editorial Review Board of IEEE Solid-State Circuits Letters (2017~). He received the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society Outstanding Young Author Award in 2018, the Distinguished Ph.D. Dissertation Award from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Seoul National University in 2016, the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society Pre-Doctoral Scholarship in 2016, the IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society STG Award in 2015.

Wolfgang Banzhaf

Wolfgang Banzhaf is the John R. Koza Chair in Genetic Programming at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Michigan State University and an Honorary University Research Professor at Memorial University of Newfoundland. He received a "Diplom in Physik" degree in Physics from the LMU Munich and his Dr.rer.nat (PhD) from the Dept. of Physics of the TH Karlsruhe, now KIT. After a postdoc at the U. of Stuttgart, he was a Visiting and Senior Researcher at the Central Research Lab of Mitsubishi Electric in Japan and at MERL in Cambridge, USA. From 1993 to 2003 he was Associate Professor for Applied Computer Science at TU Dortmund.

Thomas Stützle

Research Director of the Belgian F.R.S.-FNRS (tenured research professor position) working at the Institut de Recherches Interdisciplinaires et de Développements en Intelligence Artificielle (IRIDIA), Université libre de Bruxelles, Brussels, Belgium. His research interests range from stochastic local search (SLS) algorithms, automated design of algorithms, large scale experimental studies, multi-objective optimization to applications of SLS algorithms.

John M. Carroll

John M. Carroll researches methods and theory in HCI, particularly as applied to internet tools for collaborative learning and problem solving, and design of interactive systems. He received the Rigo Award and CHI Lifetime Achievement Award from ACM, and the Goldsmith Award from IEEE. He is a fellow of AAAS, ACM, IEEE, the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, and the Association for Psychological Science, and received an honorary doctorate in engineering from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid.

Stefan Steiniger

Stefan Steiniger is a Professor at the School of Construction and Transport Engineering at Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Valparaiso, Chile, and in charge of the spatial data infrastructure/observatory of the Chilean Centre for Urban Sustainable Development (CEDEUS). With a background in automated geo-visualization, spatial data analysis, geodesy and geo-information technologies in general he has a wide interest in developing free & open source GIS tools and their applications in diverse fields including cartography, wildlife ecology, landscape ecology, urban planning, and transportation. His latest research focuses on (i) developing web platforms for urban accessibility analysis - such as CiudadCaminable.com and Walkability.App, (ii) processes and tools for the calculation (Python and R), visualisation (Dashboards) and management of sustainable city indicators and their data, as well as (iii) the development of scenario modelling tools for urban planning.

Iftikhar Ahmed

Dr. Ahmed is a Professor of Software Engineering at the University of Europe for Applied Sciences in Germany. His research interests lie in Responsible AI, Explainable AI, and Social Network Analysis. Dr. Ahmed holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Saarland University, Germany, and a Master's degree in the same field from Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg, Germany.

Bilal Khalid

Dr. Bilal Khalid received a Ph.D. in Industrial Business Administration from KMITL Business School, Bangkok, and a master’s in International Business Management from Stamford International University, Bangkok. Dr. Khalid's research interests include leadership and negotiations, digital transformations, gamification, eLearning, blockchain, big data, decarbonization, green entrepreneurial orientation, corporate social responsibility, sustainable management practices, and management of information technology. Dr. Bilal Khalid also serves as an academic editor at Journal of Computer Networks and Communication, Education Research International, and a reviewer for multiple international journals.

Christopher J Mungall

I am a Computer Research Scientist in the Environmental Genomics and Systems Biology division at Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory. My work focuses on computational methods for representing and interpreting complex biological data, in particular through the development and application of knowledge representation structures such as ontologies.
