Anissa Daliry

Dr. Anissa Daliry is a biologist at the Federal College of Pernambuco (UFPE) and holds a master's degree and a PhD in cellular and molecular biology from FIOCRUZ and a postdoctoral degree from Biophysics/UFRJ. Dr. Anissa is a permanent professor of Cell and Molecular Biology program, IOC/FIOCRUZ (level 7/ CAPES) and young scientist of our state/FAPERJ (2021-2024). Her main research focus is to study molecular, physiological pathways and mechanisms involved in the development of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases such as obesity, metabolic syndrome, diabetes, hypertension, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and Chagas disease. She performs pre-clinical and clinical studies. She coordinates the postgraduate course "Cardiovascular and Metabolic Diseases: from bench to the bedside." She is a reviewer for 13 indexed international journals. Since 2020, she has collaborated in the Longitudinal Study of Brazilian Health, ELSA-BRASIL. She is also a member of the Liver Center and the Brazilian Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (SBFte). She develops projects in technological innovation with the development of a medical device for the quantification of hepatic steatosis. Dr. Anissa is a member of the research directory group entitled: Longitudinal Study of Adult Health - RJ/Fiocruz Research Center, coordinated by Dr. Rosane Griep/IOC and leader of the CNPq research group entitled: Study group on pathophysiology and therapy of chronic non-communicable and infectious diseases.

Dr Tim Doyle is a biomechanics and physical performance researcher at Macquarie University, Sydney, NSW, Australia. He has a broad network having studied within Australia (The University of Queensland, Edith Cowan University) and overseas at Ball State University in the USA. In addition to his academic qualifications he is also an accredited level 2 strength and conditioning coach (ASCA), an accredited level 2 sport scientist and exercise scientist (ESSA). He was awarded an Endeavour Executive Fellowship which provided the opportunity to spend time at The Mayo Clinic and Stanford University. His research involves neuromuscular biomechanics, injury prevention, and physical preparation in athletes and tactical populations.

I am an evolutionary biologist and functional morphologist with diverse interests. My major focus is on the evolution of the masticatory apparatus of mammals, particularly rodents. I am also working on an anatomy ontology for muscles of the head and neck in tetrapods. I also study the biomechanics of teeth, as well as the neurophysiology of mastication.

Dr. Mário Espada is Adjunct Professor at the Instituto Politécnico de Setúbal, teaching in Higher Education School (ESE-IPS) and Higher School of Health (ESS-IPS).

He carried out his Postdoctoral in Human Kinetics, Sport Sciences specialty in 2015 at the Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP, São Paulo - Brazil), and earned his PhD in Human Kinetics, Sport Sciences in 2013 within the Faculty of Human Kinetics, University of Lisbon, Portugal (FMH-UL).

Dr. Espada also holds the following roles:

Collaborating member of Interdisciplinary Centre for the Study of Human Performance (CIPER), Faculty of Human Kinetics of the University of Lisbon, Portugal (FMH-UL), Comprehesive Health Research Centre (CHRC), University of Évora, Portugal (UE), and Life Quality Research Center (CIEQV).

Dr. Espada has published several articles in specialized journals. Regular presence and presentation of communications in international technical and scientific events.

His primary research areas are Sport and Exercise, focusing in Exercise Physiology and Training Methodology.

Dr. Liang Gao currently works as a senior Research Fellow at the Center of Experimental Orthopaedics, Saarland University, Germany. His clinical interests include sports medicine, arthroplasty, and traumatology. His research focuses on joint preservation and orthobiologics.

Dr. Gao studied Medicine in China and Germany with intensive fellowship training in both Asia and Europe. He completed the Musculoskeletal Surgical Oncology residency training at Peking University Medical Center, China. Moreover, he obtained his master of science degree (Radiation Oncology) from Heidelberg University, Germany and his doctorate (Biological Therapy) summa cum laude from Saarland University, Germany.

Dr. Gao is the Member of the Basic Science Committee of International Cartilage Regeneration & Joint Preservation Society (ICRS), the Member of the Early Career Investigator Committee of Osteoarthritis Research Society International (OARSI), and the Founding Member of the Sino Euro Orthopaedics Society (SEOS).

Professor of Cardio-metabolic Health in the Institute of Cardiovascular and Medical Sciences at the University of Glasgow. Lead an active multi-disciplinary research group investigating the effects of exercise and diet on the prevention and management of vascular and metabolic diseases from the molecular to the whole-body level. Major research interests include: why certain population groups appear to be particularly susceptible to the adverse effects of a ‘Westernised’ lifestyle, and how lifestyle interventions can modulate this excess risk; the interactions between physical activity, energy balance, body fatness and disease risk; and the mechanisms by which exercise regulates lipoprotein metabolism. Member of the NICE guidelines update committee for prevention of type 2 diabetes, and was member of development groups for the Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN) guidelines for the prevention and treatment of obesity and for prevention of cardiovascular disease. Past Chair of the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES) Division of Physical Activity for Health and Fellow of BASES. Director of the MSc programme in Sport and Exercise Science & Medicine at the University of Glasgow.

Mike Holmes is an Associate Professor and Canada Research Chair in Neuromuscular Mechanics and Ergonomics at Brock University, St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. Mike completed a Bachelor of Kinesiology (Honours) and a Master of Science (MSc. Biomechanics) from Memorial University. He obtained a PhD in Biomechanics from McMaster University and completed a one year post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Waterloo.

Combining neuroscience and biomechanics, his work aims to better understand how people become injured at work. The focus of his research program is to better understand work-related upper extremity disorders by identifying mechanisms of injury and pain related to the neuromuscular and biomechanical properties of muscles and ligaments. Using laboratory based techniques, including electromyography, motion capture, electrical stimulation, medical imaging and computer modelling, his fundamental approach leads to workplace applications and investigations.
