Wolfgang Banzhaf
Wolfgang Banzhaf is the John R. Koza Chair in Genetic Programming at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Michigan State University and an Honorary University Research Professor at Memorial University of Newfoundland. He received a "Diplom in Physik" degree in Physics from the LMU Munich and his Dr.rer.nat (PhD) from the Dept. of Physics of the TH Karlsruhe, now KIT. After a postdoc at the U. of Stuttgart, he was a Visiting and Senior Researcher at the Central Research Lab of Mitsubishi Electric in Japan and at MERL in Cambridge, USA. From 1993 to 2003 he was Associate Professor for Applied Computer Science at TU Dortmund.
Xianye Ben
Xianye Ben received a Ph.D. degree in pattern recognition and intelligent system from the College of Automation, Harbin Engineering University, Harbin, in 2010. She is currently working as a full Professor in the School of Information Science and Engineering, Shandong University, Qingdao, China. She has published more than 100 papers in major journals and conferences, such as IEEE T-PAMI, IEEE T-IP, IEEE T-CSVT, IEEE T-MM, PR, CVPR, etc. Her current research interests include pattern recognition and image processing. She received the Excellent Doctoral Dissertation award from Harbin Engineering University. She was also enrolled by the Young Scholars Program of Shandong University.
Asa Ben-Hur
My lab specializes in applications of machine learning in bioinformatics. We are developing methods for predicting protein function and interactions, and are studying the process of alternative splicing in plants
Elhadj Benkhelifa
Prof. Elhadj Benkhelifa is a full Professor of Computer Science and Digital Innovations at Staffordshire University, where he is also the Head of Professoriate leading a large body of all Associate and Full Professors across the whole University with the mission to contribute, influence, shape and enable the collective advancement of the University’s strategies and develop excellence in T&L, research and enterprise. He is also a member of the University Research Ethics Committee.
Joanne Berghout
Dr. Berghout received her PhD in Biochemistry from McGill University in Montreal, QC where she researched the genetics of complex traits and susceptibility to infectious disease in humans and mouse models. Following that, she spent three years as the Outreach Coordinator for the Mouse Genome Informatics (MGI) database in Bar Harbor, ME. There, she trained researchers in genetics, genomics, data structures and data mining to answer biological questions, and worked closely with other members of the MGI group to develop and optimize the MGI resource. Now her research interests include genetics of all kinds, personalized medicine, big data, and scientific communication. She is currently pursuing projects in precision medicine for analysis of transcriptome data from patients with rare lung diseases (Sarcoidosis, Coccidiomycosis), and integrative network analysis of complex traits including Alzheimer's Disease. She is currently appointed at the University of Arizona's Center for Biomedical Informatics and Biostatistics (CB2) and The Center for Genetics and Genomic Medicine (TCG2M) in Tucson, AZ.
Mario Luca Bernardi
I received the Laurea degree in Computer Science Engineering from the University of Naples Federico II, Italy, in 2003 and the Ph.D. degree in Information Engineering from the University of Sannio in 2007.
Since 2003 I have worked as a researcher in the field of software engineering writing more than 90 papers published in journals and conference proceedings. My main research interests include software maintenance and testing, software reuse, software reverse engineering, and re-engineering, with a particular interest in software modularization.
I also served both as a member of the program and organizing committees of several international conferences, and as a reviewer of papers submitted to some of the main journals and magazines in the field of data and process mining, software engineering, software maintenance, program comprehension, and the application of computational intelligence approaches in the above fields.
Currently, I am an Senior Researcher at University of Sannio, holding the course of "Pervasive Computing".
Siddhartha Bhattacharyya
Dr. Siddhartha Bhattacharyya is currently serving as a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Christ University, Bangalore. He is a co-author of 5 books and the co-editor of 60 books and has more than 300 research publications in international journals and conference proceedings to his credit. He has got two PCTs to his credit. He has been a member of the organizing and technical program committees of several national and international conferences.
His research interests include hybrid intelligence, pattern recognition, multimedia data processing, social networks and quantum computing.
Tossapon Boongoen
Dr Tossapon Boongoen obtained his PhD in Computer Science from Cranfield University, UK (in 2003), and his 2-year PostDoc in Aberystwyth University, UK (2007-08). His research interest includes AI, machine/deep learning, image analysis and pattern recognition, fuzzy systems and security. He serves as an Associate Editor for several international journals like IEEE Access.
Glen M Borchert
Dr. Glen Borchert holds joint appointments as an Assistant Professor in Biology and Pharmacology at the University of South Alabama. He originally received a B.S. in Biology from the University of Tennessee then completed a Ph.D. in Genetics from the University of Iowa. Dr. Borchert’s research focuses largely on identifying novel genetic regulators and defining their roles in oncogenesis, microbiology and speciation. Since starting his laboratory at South Alabama in August 2012, Dr. Borchert has published dozens of papers in peer reviewed journals and had numerous grant applications funded including a highly prestigious NSF CAREER award (2014-2019).
Barry W Brook
Barry Brook, a conservation biologist and modeller, is an ARC Australian Laureate Professor and Chair of Environmental Sustainability at the University of Tasmania. Leader of the Dynamics of Eco-evolutionary Patterns (DEEP) research group and the UTAS node of CABAH, Barry is a highly cited scientist, having published three books, over 350 refereed papers, and many popular articles. His awards include the 2006 Australian Academy of Science Fenner Medal, the 2010 Community Science Educator of the Year and 2013 Scopus Researcher of the Year. He focuses on global change biology, ecological dynamics, paleoenvironments, energy systems, and statistical-simulation models.
Andrea Brunello
I am an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) at the Department of Humanities and Cultural Heritage (DIUM) of the University of Udine. In addition, I am part of the Data Science and Automatic Verification Laboratory, at the Department of Mathematics, Computer Science and Physics (DMIF) at the same University. As a figure straddling the two departments, I am part of the board of directors of the AI4CH Initiative, and I am interested in both practical aspects of Artificial Intelligence and philosophical issues. I am and have been a core member of several national and international projects with both institutional and corporate partners, such as u-blox, SAL Silicon Austria Labs, GAP srlu, and beanTech.
Alberto Cano
Alberto Cano is an Associate Professor with the Department of Computer Science, Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, Virginia, United States, where he heads the High-Performance Data Mining laboratory. His research is focused on machine learning, data mining, big data, evolutionary computation, general-purpose computing on graphics processing units, and distributed computing.
