Álvar Arnaiz-González
Dr. Álvar Arnaiz-González is an Associate Professor within the Department of Computer Science at the University of Burgos.
His main research interests include Machine Learning, Data Mining, ensemble classifiers and instance selection.
Muhammad Asif
Dr Muhammad Asif is currently working as Director, Graduate Studies and Reserach and Tenured Associate Professor of Computer Science. He also served as Chairman of the Department of Computer Science at National Textile University, Faisalabad, till November 04, 2020. Before this, he was a research scholar in the Computer Science and Information Management Department at the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand. He received his MS and Ph.D. from AIT in 2009 and 2012 on HEC foreign Scholarship. Over the time, he was a visiting researcher at the National Institute of Information Tokyo, Japan, where he worked on the design and development of a data collection system for infectious diseases through modern technologies. He has also worked on a very important project of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) related to Pakistan's Air Traffic Control System. He was mainly involved in the architectural design of the systems as a software engineer. Asif is actively involved in teaching research and administration activities at the national textile University Faisalabad. He has Two PhD students who graduated in his credit and fifty-five plus MS and BS level students. He has won funded projects of more than Three Hundred (300) million from National and International funding agencies. He enjoys more than 200 impact factors from his research publications in top-class computer science journals and allied domains. He is also serving as Associate Editor of many top journals of computer science, namely, IEEE Access (IF 3.37), PlosOne (IF 3.752), Peerj Computer Science (IF 2.41), CMC (IF 3.77) and Frontiers in Communications and Networks. He is a reviewer of several reputed journals and authored a number of research papers in reputed journals and conferences. He is also a permanent member of the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) as an advisor and program evaluator at the National Computing Education Accreditation Council (NCEAC) Islamabad.
A. Taufiq Asyhari
A. Taufiq Asyhari received the BEng (Hons) degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, in 2007, and the PhD degree in Information Engineering from the University of Cambridge, UK, in 2012. He is Professor of Data Science at Monash University, Indonesia and Visiting Professor of Future Communication Systems at Birmingham City University, UK. He has been an Academic Visitor at Cranfield University, UK, and Telkom University, Indonesia. He previously held full-time/visiting positions at National Chiao Tung University, Bell Laboratories, and the University of Stuttgart. His research interests include the areas of information theory, communication and coding theory, and signal processing techniques with applications to wireless and molecular communication networks, the Internet of Things, and data analytics.
Dr Asyhari is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, UK and Senior Member of IEEE. He has served as a member of the Editorial Board and the Technical Program Committee in numerous leading international journals and conferences. He is currently the Academic Lead for the multi-million pound 5G Connected Forest project funded by the UK DCMS. He received the notable Samsung Global Research Outreach Award, in 2017, the Silver Medal at the International Trade Fair iENA 2017, the IEEE-EURASIP Best Paper Award at ISWCS 2014, the National Science Council of Taiwan Starting Grant, in 2013, and the Cambridge Trust - Yousef Jameel Scholarship.
Khursheed Aurangzeb
Dr. Khursheed Aurangzeb is Associate Professor in Department of Computer Engineering at College of Computer and Information Sciences at King Saud University (KSU), Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He received his Ph.D. degree in Electronics Design from Mid Sweden University Sweden in June 2013, MS degree in Electrical Engineering (System on Chip Design) from Linkoping University, Sweden in 2009. He received his B.S. degree in Computer Engineering from COMSATS Institute of Information Technology Abbottabad, Pakistan in 2006. He has authored and co-authored more than 70 publications including IEEE / ACM / Springer / Hindawi / MDPI journals, and flagship conference papers. He has obtained more than fifteen years of excellent experience as instructor and researcher in data analytics, machine/deep learning, signal processing, electronics circuits/systems and embedded systems. He has been involved in many research projects as a principal investigator and a co-principal investigator. His research interest are in the diverse fields of embedded systems, computer architecture, VLSI, signal processing, wireless sensor networks, camera based sensor networks, AI/ML/DL and smart grids with an emphasis on big data, precision agriculture, machine/deep learning, embedded and pervasive computing, mobile cloud computing and healthcare.
Doğan Aydın
Doğan Aydın is a professor in the Department of Computer Engineering at Izmir Katip Çelebi University. He is particularly interested in swarm intelligence and optimisation techniques, as well as deep learning and computer vision. He has several publications in high impact journals in related fields.
He holds a PhD degree in Computer Engineering from Ege University and was a visiting researcher at the Artificial Intelligence research laboratory of IRIDIA, Université Libre de Bruxelles for two years. He is currently continuing his academic studies and also provides consultancy services to private sector companies in the field of artificial intelligence.
Javier Bajo
Dr. Javier Bajo, full professor at the Department of Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science School at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), helds (since 03/05/2019) the position of Director of the UPM-Accenture AI.nnovation Space Innovation Center in Artificial Intelligence. Before he was Director of the Department of Artificial Intelligence (20/05/2016-19/10/2017) at UPM, Secretary of the PhD in Artificial Intelligence at UPM (23/06/2016-19/10/2017) and Coordinator of the Research Master in Artificial Intelligence at UPM (18/02/2013 - 20/05/2016). He also hold the position of Director of the Data Center at the Pontifical University of Salamanca (13-10/2010 - 08-11-2012), with 21 employees.
Javier has been visiting professor at the Dartmouth College (USA, 2016, Salvador de Madariaga Grant), Osaka Institute of Technology (Japan, 2011, JSPS Invitation Fellowship Program for Research in Japan) and IRIT-University of Toulouse (France, 2013, 2014, 2015).
He is member of the Ontology Engineering Group at UPM. His main lines of research are Social Computing, Intelligent Agents and Multiagent Systems, Ambient Intelligence, Machine Learnging. He has supervised 13 Ph.D thesis, participated in more than 50 research projects (in most of them as principal investigator) and published more than 300 articles in recognized journals (81 JCR papers) and conferences. His h-index is 39. He is founder of the PAAMS series of conferences, and is an IEEE, ACM and ISIF member.
Burcu Bakir-Gungor
Burcu Bakir-Gungor received her B.Sc. degree in Biological Sciences and Bioengineering from Sabanci University; her M.Sc. degree in Bioinformatics from Georgia Institute of Technology; and her PhD degree from Georgia Institute of Technology/Sabanci University. She worked at the Bioinformatics Research Center, Medical College of Wisconsin, from 2007-2009. From 2009 to 2011, she worked at the Department of Computer Engineering, Bahcesehir University. Then, she worked as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Genetics and Bioinformatics, at the same university. From 2012 to 2013, she was part of the Advanced Genomics and Bioinformatics Research Center, UEKAE, BILGEM, TUBITAK. Now, she works as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Engineering at Abdullah Gul University. She is the recipient of “Best Paper” award at the 4th EvoBIO Conference; and a member of the advisory board of the Turkish Genome Project. She is an editorial board member of PeerJ journal; the reviewer of several prestigious international journals including Bioinformatics, Machine Learning, Journal of Computational Biology; and she is the Technical Program Committee member of UBMK and HIBIT conferences. Her research interests include bioinformatics, computational genomics, network and pathway oriented analysis of genome-wide association studies and next-generation sequencing datasets; and applications of machine learning, data mining and pattern recognition in bioinformatics.
Wolfgang Banzhaf
Wolfgang Banzhaf is the John R. Koza Chair in Genetic Programming at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Michigan State University and an Honorary University Research Professor at Memorial University of Newfoundland. He received a "Diplom in Physik" degree in Physics from the LMU Munich and his Dr.rer.nat (PhD) from the Dept. of Physics of the TH Karlsruhe, now KIT. After a postdoc at the U. of Stuttgart, he was a Visiting and Senior Researcher at the Central Research Lab of Mitsubishi Electric in Japan and at MERL in Cambridge, USA. From 1993 to 2003 he was Associate Professor for Applied Computer Science at TU Dortmund.
Xianye Ben
Xianye Ben received a Ph.D. degree in pattern recognition and intelligent system from the College of Automation, Harbin Engineering University, Harbin, in 2010. She is currently working as a full Professor in the School of Information Science and Engineering, Shandong University, Qingdao, China. She has published more than 100 papers in major journals and conferences, such as IEEE T-PAMI, IEEE T-IP, IEEE T-CSVT, IEEE T-MM, PR, CVPR, etc. Her current research interests include pattern recognition and image processing. She received the Excellent Doctoral Dissertation award from Harbin Engineering University. She was also enrolled by the Young Scholars Program of Shandong University.
Asa Ben-Hur
My lab specializes in applications of machine learning in bioinformatics. We are developing methods for predicting protein function and interactions, and are studying the process of alternative splicing in plants
Joanne Berghout
Dr. Berghout received her PhD in Biochemistry from McGill University in Montreal, QC where she researched the genetics of complex traits and susceptibility to infectious disease in humans and mouse models. Following that, she spent three years as the Outreach Coordinator for the Mouse Genome Informatics (MGI) database in Bar Harbor, ME. There, she trained researchers in genetics, genomics, data structures and data mining to answer biological questions, and worked closely with other members of the MGI group to develop and optimize the MGI resource. Now her research interests include genetics of all kinds, personalized medicine, big data, and scientific communication. She is currently pursuing projects in precision medicine for analysis of transcriptome data from patients with rare lung diseases (Sarcoidosis, Coccidiomycosis), and integrative network analysis of complex traits including Alzheimer's Disease. She is currently appointed at the University of Arizona's Center for Biomedical Informatics and Biostatistics (CB2) and The Center for Genetics and Genomic Medicine (TCG2M) in Tucson, AZ.
Mario Luca Bernardi
I received the Laurea degree in Computer Science Engineering from the University of Naples Federico II, Italy, in 2003 and the Ph.D. degree in Information Engineering from the University of Sannio in 2007.
Since 2003 I have worked as a researcher in the field of software engineering writing more than 90 papers published in journals and conference proceedings. My main research interests include software maintenance and testing, software reuse, software reverse engineering, and re-engineering, with a particular interest in software modularization.
I also served both as a member of the program and organizing committees of several international conferences, and as a reviewer of papers submitted to some of the main journals and magazines in the field of data and process mining, software engineering, software maintenance, program comprehension, and the application of computational intelligence approaches in the above fields.
Currently, I am an Senior Researcher at University of Sannio, holding the course of "Pervasive Computing".
