Adriano Sofo
Adriano Sofo graduated with a Master Degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Bari, Italy, in 1997. He spent three years (1999-2002) at the University of Basilicata, Italy, with a Doctorate in Crop Productivity. From 2000 to 2001, he also was Researcher at the National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development (ENEA), Italy. As Postdoctoral Training, in 2002, he worked at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Heraklion, Greece, within a Marie Curie Fellowship. In 2007, he graduated with a second Master Degree in Plant Biotechnology from the University of Basilicata. He then trained for four years as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Basilicata, where he also worked as Assistant Professor in Agricultural Chemistry. In 2015, he was awarded with a Fulbright Research Scholar grant to spend at the University of California, Davis. In 2017, he received a fellowship award from the OECD's Co-operative Research Programme at the University of Waikato, New Zealand.
Sergio Agnoli
Sergio Agnoli is an associate professor at the University of Trieste and a senior scientist at the Marconi Institute for Creativity. His research interests include: creative thinking process; cognitive and emotional substrates of creative thinking; neurophysiological and psychophysiological substrates of creative thinking; emotional intelligence; psycho-physiology of emotions.
Marcello Salvatore Lenucci
Dr. Marcello Salvatore Lenucci graduated with honors in Biological Sciences at the University of Lecce in 1996. He obtained the qualification to the profession of biologist in 1998. In 2000 he specialized with honors in Biotechnological Applications at the University of Bari. In 2001, during his PhD, he spent a period of 18 months in the laboratory of Prof. SC Fry at the "Institute of Cell and Molecular Biology" , University of Edinburgh, UK. In 2003 he obtained the title of PhD in Biology and Biotechnology at the University of Lecce and received the "Italian Botanical Society Award" for the best doctoral thesis of the year 2003. From 2003 to 2008 he carried out activities as research fellow. Since 2008 he has been a researcher at the University of Salento. He is currently Associate Professor and holds various teaching positions in the study courses of Biology. He is part of the teaching staff for the PhD in Nanotechnology of the University of Salento. He has participated in several research projects; he is the author of numerous publications in national and international journals, mostly in JCR newspapers. Lesley A Stark
Lesley Stark received a B.Sc (1st) from the University of Aberdeen (1990). She carried out her PhD with C. Bird at the University of Edinburgh and her first postdoc with RT Hay at the University of St Andrews. She moved back to the University of Edinburgh in 1997 to the lab of MG Dunlop. In 2002 was awarded a CRF fellowship to investigate NF-kB and aspirin chemoprevention. She was appointed as a lecturer/PI at the University of Edinburgh in 2005, a senior lecturer in 2008 then a reader in 2012.
Ola Abdelwahab
Professor of marine pollution, an expert in physicochemical water/ wastewater treatment. my interest concerns water/ Wastewater treatment by different techniques. Design of different suitable set-up and conducting experiments for the removal of different pollutants or hazards such as heavy metals, dyes, phenolic compounds and oil spills.
Albert Salas-Huetos
Dr. Salas-Huetos obtained his Bachelor of Science (Biology) from the Universitat de Girona (UdG) in 2009, his MSc in Cell Biology in 2010 at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), and his Ph.D. in Cell Biology (Cum-Laude and Extraordinary Doctorate Award) in 2016 at the same University (UAB). He joined the Genetics of Male Fertility group (UAB) as a PhD Student, and Human Nutrition Unit (Universitat Rovira i Virgili; URV) in 2016 as a Post-doctoral Fellowship. He spent a three-month Post-doctoral stay (September-December 2017) at Universidad de Guadalajara in Mexico. In 2018, he joined the University of Utah (USA) and in 2020 the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health (Harvard University; USA) as a Post-doctoral Fellow. Nowadays he is a Visiting Scholar at Harvard University for the Department of Nutrition, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and a Post-doctoral Fellow at Universitat de Girona (JdlCI). Currently, he is working on different large international multicentric projects related to genetics and epigenetics of male (in)fertility, and nutrition. The main contributions of his scientific activity are reflected in a total of 63 original articles (Q1: 51/63; first or corresponding author: 23/63) in SCI/JCR-journals (+ 5 submitted), and 3 book chapter (+2 submitted). He has attended 9 national/international conferences as invited (plenary) speaker and he was the leading author of 10 contributions in international conferences (+15 as a collaborator author).
Xiaodong Zhang
Xiaodong Zhang graduated from Peking University in 1988, majoring in Nuclear Physics. She then went to Stony Brook University to pursue her PhD in Physics in the group of Professor Janos Kirz . After her PhD in 1995, she went to Harvard University for her postdoctoral training in X-ray crystallography under the guidance of Professor Don Wiley. She took up a lecturership at Imperial College London in 2001. She was promoted to Professor of Macromolecular Structure and Function in 2008. Her current research focuses on elucidating the structures and molecular mechanisms of macromolecular machines, especially those involved in DNA processing including the transcription apparatus and its regulators, components in DNA damage signaling and repair.
Brian Child
I work on private and community conservation in Africa, with specialisation in governance and economics. As a scholar practitioner and Associate Professor at University of a Florida my goal is to bridge science, practice and policy, including in training. I combine teaching/research with working in field conservation with TNC and on the Scientific and Technical Advisory Panel of GEF
Fenglei He
I am a developmental biologist interested in craniofacial morphogenesis and malformation. Our current research focuses on understanding cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying midfacial and calvarial development.

Jochen Horstmann
Jochen Horstmann received the Diploma in physical oceanography (Dipl.-Oz.) and the Ph.D. in earth sciences (Dr. rer. nat.) from the University of Hamburg, Germany, in 1997 and 2002, respectively. He was with GKSS Research Center, Geesthacht, Germany, where he joined the Coupled Model Systems group in 1995 and has been a Research Scientist with the Institute for Coastal Research since 2002. Since 2007 he is adjunct Professor at the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science, University of Miami, USA.
In 2002, he was a Visiting Scientist with the Applied Physics Laboratory of the John Hopkins University, Laurel, MD, and with the National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service from NOAA, Washington, DC. In 2004 and 2005, he was a Visiting Scientist with the Center for Southeastern Tropical Advanced Remote Sensing of the University of Miami, FL. From 2008 to 2013, he was a Senior Remote Sensing Scientist with Nato Undersea Research Center in La Spezia, Italy. Since 2013 he is head of the department of Radar Hydrography at the Institute of Coastal Research of the Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht, Germany.
He has a wide experience in the field of radar remote sensing of ocean wind, waves, and currents and has published more than 55 scientific papers in international peer-reviewed journals. His main research interests are the development of applications for radar-based sensors with particular focus on ocean surface and subsurface processes.
