Olayomi Abiodun Falowo
Dr. Olayomi Falowo is an assistant professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Landmark University, Omu-Aran. With a passion for nano-material synthesis and characterization as well as heterogeneous catalyst development. Dr. Falowo brings a wealth of academic expertise and a commitment to fostering a dynamic learning environment.
Dr. Falowo earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University Nigeria and has since been dedicated to advancing knowledge in nano-material development and heterogeneous catalysis. His research interests include the synthesis of base heterogeneous catalysts for biodiesel production, the synthesis of nano-magnetic acidic catalysts for biomass hydrolysis, and the development of nano-adsorbent for adsorption.
He has published extensively in reputable journals such as Renewable Energy, Fuel, Chemical Engineering & Processing, Energy Conversion and Management. Further, he has contributed to the writing of several books published in both local and international press. Dr. Falowo is also actively involved in the Nigeria Society of Chemical Engineers as well as the team lead for the SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) research cluster at Landmark University and has presented his work at numerous national and international conferences.
Beyond academia, Dr. Falowo has contributed to the university community through the University Examination Board and the University Grant Seeking Committee, reflecting his commitment to collaborative governance and the overall well-being of the academic community. He is also actively involved in mentoring students, and guiding them in their academic and professional pursuits.
Cecilia Mortalò
Cecilia Mortalò completed her PhD at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (Italy) in 2005. Since 2005 she has been a researcher at the Institute of Condensed Matter Chemistry and Technologies for Energy of the Italian National Research Council. The scientific and technological skills are in the field of chemistry and technology of materials. In particular, she has expertise in the preparation and study of a variety of advanced functional ceramic materials for different applications, i.e. in the energy field (solid oxide fuel cells, energy storage systems (ZEBRA batteries), hydrogen separation and purification, protective coatings (protection against corrosion, anti-dirty and antifreeze treatments), phosphors with luminescent properties and colloidal suspensions (inks and nanofluids).
In these areas, she has competences in different conventional and un-conventional synthetic approaches such as sol gel techniques, solid state synthesis (SSR), microwave-assisted syntheses (sol-gel and hydrothermal) and sintering, classic and reactive sintering, wet-based deposition techniques (spin coating, dip coating, air-spray, drop-casting, solvent-casting, EPD). The most recent research activity focuses on high entropy metal alloy (HEA) materials for extreme conditions applications and corrosion resistance in the marine environment.
She has been involved as participant and senior investigator in several national and international projects focused on development of advanced materials for extreme conditions and energy applications and she has published 37 scientific papers in international peer-reviewed ISI journals. She is referee for various international scientific journals and she has been involved as co-guest editor for some special issues and topics.
Sarah J Butcher
Sarah Butcher did her PhD in EMBL Heidelberg, mentored by Stephen Fuller and Helen Saibil, she carried out postdoctoral training in the MRC Virology Unit in Glasgow, before moving to Helsinki University where she is currently Programme Director of the Structural Biology and Biophysics Programme, Institute of Biotechnology, Head of Instruct-FI National Affiliate Center, Finland & Head of National cryoEM facility. She works on macromolecular structure and assembly, especially of viruses.
Raul Arenal
Dr. Raul Arenal received his Ph.D. in Solid State Physics from U. Paris-Sud (Orsay, France, 2005) and in 2013, he obtained his Habilitation (HDR). From 2005 to 2007, he joined the Electron Microscopy Center in Argonne National Lab. (ANL, USA) as post doctoral fellow. In 2007, he became research scientist (Chargé de Recherches) at the CNRS (France). From 2010 to 2011, he was visiting scientist (sabbatical position) at the Lab. de Microscopias Avanzadas (LMA) at the Inst. de Nanociencia de Aragon (INA) of the U. Zaragoza (Spain). Since 2012, Dr. Arenal is on leave from the CNRS, and he is currently ARAID research scientist at the LMA-INA-U. Zaragoza. Since 2018, he is the Director of the TEM area of the LMA-INA. In addition, since 2008 he is visiting researcher at the ANL (USA). In 2017, Dr. Arenal has been elected member of the Young Academy of Europe (YAE) and also at the board of the YAE. He is also member of the board of the Spanish Microscopy Soc. (SME; 2013-2021). Dr. Arenal’s (http://www.raularenal.com) broad area of research interest lies in electron microscopy focused on materials science and nanoscience. These studies are mainly focused on the growth mechanism, structural and physical properties of nanomaterials based on carbon, boron and nitrogen as well as other nano-structures (in particular, metallic nano-objects for photonic interest). Among his scientific activities, Dr. Arenal is the chair of the HeteroNanoCarb conference series (http://heteronanocarb.org).
John F Trant
Dr. John Trant is Associate Professor of medicinal, bioorganic, and biomaterial chemistry at the University of Windsor, Ontario, Canada. HIs research focus is on the synergistic application of synthetic, computational, analytical, formulation, and natural product chemistry with molecular biology and microbiology to address unmet biomedical challenges.
Joseph C Wu
Joseph C. Wu, MD, PhD is Director of the Stanford Cardiovascular Institute and Simon H. Stertzer Professor of Medicine (Cardiology) and Radiology at the Stanford School of Medicine. Dr. Wu received his MD from Yale University School of Medicine. He trained in internal medicine and cardiology at UCLA followed by a PhD in the Dept of Molecular Pharmacology. His clinical interests involve cardiovascular imaging and adult congenital heart disease. His lab works on biological mechanisms of patient-specific and disease-specific induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). The main goals are to (i) understand basic cardiovascular disease mechanisms, (ii) accelerate drug discovery and screening, (iii) develop “clinical trial in a dish” concept, and (iv) implement precision cardiovascular medicine for prevention and treatment of patients. His lab uses a combination of genomics, stem cells, cellular & molecular biology, physiological testing, and molecular imaging technologies to better understand molecular and pathophysiological processes.
Stefano Lorenzetti
Dr. Stefano Lorenzetti is a Senior Scientist within the Department of Food Safety, Nutrition and Veterinary Public Health at the Italian National Institute of Health.
His current main interests are on the development of both in vitro tools and functional biomarkers to screen the endocrine disrupting effects of environmental and dietary contaminants.

The research interest of Hani Abdelhamid is focused broadly on science and technology at the nanoscale and for material science to push scientific boundaries in diverse areas of biochemistry, biology, biomedicine biotechnology, nanocatalysis and laser based analytical. Prof. Maria Elena Flacco is Associate Professor of Epidemiology, Medical Statistics and Public Health at the University of Ferrara, Italy. Her areas of research include epidemiology, public and occupational health, and biostatistics and methods.
Simone Cesaro
Graduated in Medicine in 1988 at the University of Padua. Pediatrician in 1992. I have been actively involved in pediatric hematology and oncology, especially in chemotherapy for leukemia and lymphoma, supportive care, and early and late effects of treatment, and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT).
Appointed in 2009 Director of the Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Unit at the Department of Pediatrics in Verona. Member of the scientific committees of several working groups including Pediatrics (for MASCC), Supportive Care (for SIOP), Aplastic Anemia, Infection (for EBMT), hematopoietic stem cell transplant, Infection, Supportive care (for AIEOP). Appointed in 2005 and 2015 Chairman of the Supportive Care Group and Infection of AIEOP (Italian Association of Pediatric Hematology Oncology), respectively. Appointed in 2010, Chairman of Infectious Diseases Working Party of European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation.
Author of more than 200 publications in peer-reviewed journals. Medical advisor of the charities Paul O’Gorman Lifeline (UK) and Lifeline Italia, liaising with and advising pediatric hematology and oncology centers in Russia, Ukraine, Georgia and Kyrgyzstan.
