Stephen Marsland
Stephen Marsland is a professor of mathematics at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. He works on mathematics of conservation biology, particularly birdsong analysis, on differential geometry of machine learning, diffeomorphic shape analysis, and game theory.
Leonidas Matsakas
Dr. Matsakas is currently Senior Lecturer at the Biochemical Process Engineering at Luleå University of Technology (Sweden). He received his PhD in Industrial Biotechnology from the school of Chemical Engineering at National Technical University of Athens (Greece) in 2015. His main research activities focus on the development of methods for the pretreatment and fractionation of lignocellulosic and aquatic biomass and the subsequent conversion of the cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin streams to biofuels, bio-based chemicals and bio-materials through biochemical and (thermo)chemical methods. He is also actively working on the development of mixotrophic and heterotrophic microalgae biorefinery processes for the production of high-added value compounds, such as omega-3 PUFAs, pigments and protein.

Kevin Petrie
I obtained my PhD from the Institute of Cancer Research in London spent a further 10 years there as a postdoctoral fellow and Staff Scientist. I am currently a Lecturer in Molecular Biology at the University of Stirling in Scotland. My principal research interest is translational oncology, with a focus on epigenetics.
Bernd Neumann
Dr. Bernd Neumann is a German scientist in the field of microbiology. He has a Bachelor´s (B.Sc.) and Master´s (M.Sc.) degree in Human Biology from the University of Greifswald, Division Physiological Proteomics and Bioinformatics at the Institute for Microbiology (supervisor Katharina Riedel). He holds a PhD (Dr.rer.nat.) in Biology from the Technical University of Braunschweig. For his PhD and as PostDoc he worked at the Robert Koch Institute, Division of nosocomial pathogens and antibiotic resistances at the Department of infectious diseases.
Currently he is working as scientist at the Nuremberg General Hospital, Institute for hospital hygiene, medical microbiology and infectious diseases, that also is a university institute of the Paracelsus Medical University. He is working on antimicrobial resistant bacteria (ESKAPE-group) and resistance-mediating mobile genetic elements in the healthcare environment, mainly using molecular approaches as next-generation sequencing.

Liana S Leach
I am a psychiatric epidemiologist, and my research primarily investigates the impact of work and parenting transitions on mental health. I am currently a Research Fellow at the Research School of Population Health, at The Australian National University.
Tirayut Vilaivan
Tirayut Vilaivan was born in Bangkok, Thailand in 1971 and obtained his D Phil in Organic Chemistry from Oxford in 1996 under supervision of the late Professor Gordon Lowe, FRS. He is currently a professor of chemistry at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok. His research interests include catalytic asymmetric synthesis, synthesis and applications of conformationally constrained peptide nucleic acids, and antimalarial drug development.

Chih-Hsin Cheng
Dr. Chih-Hsin Cheng is a soil biogeochemist who focuses on soil physicochemical properties and carbon and nutrient cycles in agro- and forest ecosystems. His research includes (1) natural and anthropogenic influences on carbon stocks and carbon cycle; (2) characterization of biochar and soil organic matter and their roles in stabilization of organic carbon; and (3) assessment of carbon sequestration in afforestation/reforestation.
Carla Fiorentini
CARLA FIORENTINI is presently Director of Preclinical Research at the Association for Research of Integrative Oncology Therapies (ARTOI). She was Director of “Natural Substances, Traditional Medicine” Section at the Dept. of Therapeutic Research and Medicines Evaluation, and Coordinator of a Research Group at the Italian Center for Global Health, Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS), Roma. Academic Degree in Biology and Specialty in Microbiology, University of Roma. Post-doctoral training at Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden. Her current research is focused on unravelling the role of bacterial protein toxins in cancer and on the use the bacterial toxin CNF1 as a potential novel therapeutic for central nervous system disorders. She is co-inventor in five different patents on CNF1 activity on the central nervous system. As co-author of numerous book chapters and articles in leading journals, she is renowned in the field of bacterial protein toxins.
