Xiaolong Li

Dr. Xiaolong Li is Professor and Chair of the Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology at the Indiana State University. He received his PhD from Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Cincinnati in 2006. He obtained his Bachelor degree and Master degree from Department of Electronic and Information Engineering at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China. Dr. Li began his teaching and research with the Morehead State University in 2006 where he taught various courses in electronics and wireless communications. In 2008, Dr. Li joined the Indiana State University where he taught courses in Electronics and Computer Engineering, such as C programming, digital electronics, computer networking, networking security, etc. Dr. Li’s primary areas of research including modeling and performance analysis of Data mining, Internet of Things, Wireless Ad Hoc networks and sensor networks. He has published more than forty journal and proceedings articles in the above fields. He has served as topical editor and special issue editor for multiple journals. He also served as general chair and technical program committee chairs for multiple international conferences.

Xing Li

Dr. Xing Li is an Assistant Professor and Associate Consultant in the Division of Biomedical Statistics and Informatics, Department of Health Science Research at Mayo Clinic - voted the best hospital by U.S. News & World Report. Dr. Li completed his PhD in Bioinformatics from The University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA. Dr. Li also holds a Masters Degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and Bachelors Degree in Microbiology. Dr. Li’s research interests focus on machine learning, bioinformatics, and statistical data mining in large scale data in biomedical research, such as next generation sequencing data (whole genome sequencing, RNA-seq, microarray data), in the file. He has published more than 20 peer-reviewed papers in reputable journals and book chapters in the fields of Bioinformatics and Biostatistics, cancer research, cardiovascular disease, embryonic stem cell (ESC) and induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) research, and human genomics, genetics and development, and Microbiology. Dr. Li’s publications have been highlighted as Journal Cover Stories, Journal Featured Articles, Highlights Section Papers, Must Read by Faculty 1000, and ESC & iPSC News, etc. Dr. Li has been developing data analysis tools, such as RCircle and PCA3d, etc. Dr. Li is also a member of American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB), American Statistics Association (ASA) and American Heart Association (AHA).

Francesca A. Lisi

Assistant Professor in Computer Science at the University of Bari, Italy. Member of the Board of Directors of the Italian Association for Artifiicial Intelligence (AI*IA).

Pengcheng Liu

Pengcheng Liu is a member of IEEE, IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS), IEEE Control Systems Society (CSS) and International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC). He is also a member of the IEEE Technical Committee on Bio Robotics, Soft Robotics, Robot Learning, and Safety, Security and Rescue Robotics. Dr Liu is an Associate Editor of IEEE Access, PeerJ Computer Science, and he received the Global Peer Review Awards from Web of Science in 2019, and the Outstanding Contribution Awards from Elsevier in 2017. He has published over 70 papers on flagship journals and conferences. He was nominated as a regular Funding/Grants reviewer for EPSRC, NIHR and NSFC and he has been leading and involving in several research projects and grants, including EPSRC, Newton Fund, Innovate UK, Horizon 2020, Erasmus Mundus, FP7-PEOPLE, NSFC, etc. He serves as reviewers for over 30 flagship journals and conferences in robotics, AI and control. His research interests include robotics, machine learning, automatic control and optimization.

Marta Lovino

Dr. Marta Lovino is an assistant professor with a time contract at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, since 2023. She obtained her Ph.D. in Computer and Control Engineering with honors from Politecnico di Torino in 2021 and joined the AImage lab group as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow.

Dr. Lovino's primary research interests include cancer prognosis prediction, gene expression analysis, miRNA target prediction, gene regulatory networks, gene fusions, and multi-omics data integration. With a particular focus on leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) in the field of genetics to improve the understanding of cancer biology and enhance patient care.

Vijay Mago

Vijay Mago received a Ph.D. degree in computer science from Panjab University, India, in 2010. In 2011, he joined the Modeling of Complex Social Systems Program at The IRMACS Centre, Simon Fraser University. He is currently the Chair and an Associate Professor with the Department of Computer Science, Lakehead University, Thunder Bay, ON, Canada, where he teaches and conducts research in areas, including big data analytics, machine learning, natural language processing, artificial intelligence, medical decision making, and Bayesian intelligence. He has published extensively on new methodologies based on soft computing and artificial intelligence techniques to tackle complex systemic problems, such as homelessness, obesity, and crime. He serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE Access and BMC Medical Informatics and Decision Making.

Ana G Maguitman

Ana Gabriela Maguitman is a Principal Researcher at the National Council for Science and Technology (CONICET) of Argentina and an Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of the Universidad Nacional del Sur (Argentina). She obtained her PhD in Computer Science at Indiana University (USA). Dr. Maguitman leads the Knowledge Management and Information Retrieval Research Group at Universidad Nacional del Sur. Her main research areas include Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, and Information Retrieval.

Federico Manuri

Federico Manuri received the B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in computer engineering from Politecnico di Torino, Torino, Italy, in 2008, 2011, and 2017, respectively all in computer engineering. He is currently an Assistant Professor with the Department of Control and Computer Engineering, Politecnico di Torino.

Yuqing Mao

Dr. Mao is currently a research scientist in Lister Hill National Center for Biomedical Communications, U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM), National Institutes of Health (NIH). Prior to joining the NLM, he was a Professor at Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine in China. Dr. Mao has received a Ph.D. degree from the School of Computer Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (2012), and B.S. and M.S. degrees in computer science from Nanjing University in China in 1997 and 2000, respectively.

Alessio Martino

Alessio Martino graduated summa cum laude in Communications Engineering at University of Rome "La Sapienza", Italy, 2016. From 2016 to 2019, he served as PhD Research Fellow in Information and Communications Technologies at the same University (Department of Information Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications), with a final dissertation on pattern recognition techniques in non-metric domains. During his PhD, he also served as scientific collaborator with Consortium for Research in Automation and Telecommunication, Rome, Italy.

After obtaining the PhD, he was granted a 1-year Post Doctoral Research Fellowship at University of Rome "La Sapienza" and a 1-year Post Doctoral Research Fellowship at the Italian National Research Council (Institute of Cognitive Sciences and Technologies). Since February 2022, he is Assistant Professor of Computer Science at LUISS University.

His research interests include machine learning, computational intelligence and knowledge discovery. Currently he's focusing on large-scale machine learning, advanced pattern recognition systems, big data analysis, parallel and distributed computing, granular computing and complex systems modelling, in applications including bioinformatics and computational biology, natural language processing and energy distribution networks.

He serves as Editor for several journals and regularly serves as Technical Program Committee member for several international conferences. Alessio Martino is also a member of the IEEE.

Carla N Mavian

My research aims at understanding the eco-evolutionary pathways that lead to emergence and dispersal of zoonotic and human pathogens, with emphasis on land use and climate change, within the One Health approach. I employ genomics, metagenomics and phylodynamics as tools to elucidate the evolutionary processes and population dynamics that shape viral genetic diversity both at the inter-host (epidemics) and in intra-host level (individual infections).
