Michael Sammeth

I am a researcher in computational biology and my story starts at the Federal University of Würzburg (2002), where graduated in biology (major: biochemistry, genetics & neurobiology, virology & immunology, minor: computer science). My PhD studies were supported by the Ernst Schering Research Foundation, and I studied specialized algorithms for multiple sequence alignments at Bielefeld University and at the Free University of Amsterdam. The German Academic Exchange service funded my post-doctoral studies at the University Pompeu Fabra, where I started to work on genomics and (alternative) splicing. I followed these research lines at the newly created Center for Genomic Regulation in Barcelona, supported by a young researcher grant by the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science. Afterwards, I started my first group in Functional Bioinformatics at the Spanish National Sequencing Center, focusing on all aspects of functional elements as assessed by novel sequencing technologies.

Since 2013 I located to Brazil, where I researched at the National Center for Computational Science before joining the Biophysics Institute Carlos Chagas Filho at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. The research in my lab focuses on functional genomics and transcriptomics in general.

Stephen Rajan Samuel

Dr. Stephen Samuel is a leader in the field of exercise oncology. He is a Fulbright alumni, the past vice chair (2016-2020) & past chair (2020-2023) of the fatigue study group of the multinational association of supportive care in cancer (MASCC) and the recipient of the Young Investigator of the year in cancer award by MASCC in 2015.He is the program director and Associate Professor of Exercise Science at the Mount Vernon Nazarene University, Ohio, USA. Over the last one decade Dr. Samuel has published his work in exercise oncology in some of the highly reputed journals in collaboration with researchers from various parts of the world.

Marta I Sánchez

I’m a Ramón y Cajal Researcher at the Doñana Biological Station (Spanish Council of Scientific Research, CSIC), Seville, Spain. Previously I was a postdoctoral fellow at the Center of Functional Ecology and Evolution (CEFE-CNRS) and the Institute for Research and Development (IRD), Montpellier, France. My research focuses on understanding the processes regulating aquatic ecosystem functioning. In particular I’m interested in the complex influence of waterbirds on wetland ecosystems via predation and dispersal of propagules, the role of trophically transmitted parasites (mainly those manipulating host behaviour) and biological invasions.

J. Thomas Sanderson

Professor of Toxicology at the INRS-Institut Armand-Frappier, Université du Québec, Laval, Canada. Adjunct professor at the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Faculty of Medicine, McGill University, Montréal, Canada. Member and former councillor (2008-2011) of the Society of Toxicology of Canada. Member of the Society of Toxicology since 2000. Recipient of a 2006 Leader's Opportunities Fund Infrastructure Award from the Canadian Foundation for Innovation. Current research funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and Natural Sciences and Engineering Council of Canada.

Harpinder S. Sandhu

Senior Lecturer, School of Natural and Built Environments, University of South Australia; Leading research on ecosystem services in managed landscapes, agro-ecology and natural resource management.

Carlos A Santamaria

Santamaria’s primary research interests are on cryptic biodiversity and phylogeography of coastal invertebrates, particularly those from highly biodiverse and geologically active regions such as Hawai’i, southern Africa, Pacific Islands, the Greater Caribbean Region, the Mediterranean and the Baja Peninsula of Mexico.

As a Hispanic, he is aware of the difficulties that under-represented students face in higher education and when pursuing careers in the biological sciences. Thus, he is dedicated to increasing their participation in the sciences. He has mentored undergraduates who self-identify as members of underrepresented groups in his research activities. He also participates in community outreach events as well as professional development programs geared towards developing a better understanding of the needs of a multi-cultural student body and to improve the participation of under-represented groups in the sciences.

Michael F Santillo

I have over a decade of experience leading independent laboratory research projects as a research chemist at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The focus of my work is using in silico (computational tools, especially QSAR) and in vitro (cellular and biochemical) methods for identifying chemical hazards associated with foods and dietary supplements.

Maria J Santos

Assistant Professor in Environmental Sciences, Utrecht University.

My research combines field methods, GIS, remote sensing, statistical modeling, historical archival research, and conservation biology, history, and planning. I focus on four research areas:

* Assessing interaction and feedback mechanisms of social-ecological systems in space and time
* Identifying global change drivers through conservation histories and relate them to changes and fluxes in species and ecosystems, land use policy, and environmental governance
* Investigating how land use and climate changes affect spatial and temporal dynamics of species and habitat at multiple scales
* Use of state of the art remote sensing, GIS and quantitative analysis to answer interdisciplinary research questions

Rubim Santos

Dr. Rubim Santos is Associate Professor at the School of Health, P. Porto and Director of the Center for Rehabilitation Research.

His primary research interests include biomechanics, human movement and postural control.

Agus Santoso

Senior research scientist at Climate Change Research Centre, UNSW Australia. Co-Project leader at the Centre for Southern Hemisphere Oceans Research (CSHOR), CSIRO, Australia. CSIRO adjunct science leader. Past member of WCRP CLIVAR Pacific Panel.

My research focusses on the mechanisms underlying climate and ocean variability and change. I implement data analysis techniques and climate model experiments. Specific interests include the evolution of Southern Ocean water masses; air-sea processes in relation to the El Nino Southern Oscillation (ENSO), Indian Ocean anomalies, Southern Annular Mode, and their connection to regional rainfall variability and extremes.

Fatima Saqib

Dr. Fatima Saqib, has a PhD in Pharmacology from Bahauddin Zakariya University. Currently, she is serving as Professor (Assistant) in BZU, Multan. Previously she served as Lecturer for 8 years. She has supervised 34 M.Phil students and 5 PhD students under supervision. She has published 38 international research articles and review paper with a total IF120 with h-index 12, i-index 16 and total google scholar citations 437.
