Fanglin Guan
Prof. Fanglin Guan is Dean at Xi'an Jiaotong University. He is engaged in the integrated biological research of complex diseases, including tumor microenvironment and novel immunotherapeutic modalities, and research on the mechanisms and medical applications related to tumor cell vaccines, especially for the exploration of the mechanism of determining the biomarkers of complex diseases.
Ziarih Hawi
Dr Ziarih Hawi is a Senior Research Fellow in Psychiatric Genetics at the Institute of Cognitive and Clinical Neuroscience. Dr Hawi has been investigating genetic predisposition to psychiatric disorders with particular emphasis on the genetic of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). He has successfully identified risk gens for ADHD, narrowed down regions of associations and has functionally characterised some of the ADHD-associated genes.
Ming Hu
Dr. Hu is currently an Assistant Staff in the Department of Quantitative Health Sciences, Lerner Research Institute at Cleveland Clinic. He is also an Assistant Professor (non-tenure track) in the Department of Medicine at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University, an Associate Member of Molecular Oncology Program at Case Comprehensive Cancer Center, and a joint faculty member of Institute for Computational Biology at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Dr. Hu received his B.S. degree in Statistics from University of Science and Technology of China in 2006 and Ph.D. degree in Biostatistics from University of Michigan in 2010. He was a postdoctoral fellow in Dr. Jun S. Liu’s group in Department of Statistics at Harvard University from 2010 to 2013. He jointed the Department of Population Health, Division of Biostatistics at New York University School of Medicine in 2013. In 2016, he moved to his current position in Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Hu has more than 10 years of experience in statistical modeling and statistical computing with applications in statistical genetics and genomics. Recently, his research is focused on genome-wide mapping and analysis of chromosome spatial organization. Dr. Hu has published more than 60 peer-reviewed research papers covering statistics, bioinformatics, statistical genetics and computational biology.
Md Asiful Islam
Dr Asiful is currently working as a research fellow at the WHO Collaborating Centre for Global Women’s Health, Institute of Metabolism and Systems Research, College of Medical and Dental Sciences, University of Birmingham, UK.
Dr Md Asiful Islam completed his PhD (Fast Track, Passed with Grade 1, Pass without correction) in Genetics & Autoimmunity from Human Genome Centre, Universiti Sains Malaysia (November 2018) under Professor Dr Siew Hua Gan following completing BSc in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology (Jahangirnagar University, Dhaka, Bangladesh). He achieved Malaysia International Scholarship and USM Vice-Chancellor Award during his PhD and working as a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Haematology, School of Medical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia from 2019 till 2022.
Besides PeerJ, he has been working as an Academic Editor for Nature Scientific Data, PLOS ONE, BMC Rheumatology, Autoimmunity Highlights, Endocrine, Metabolic & Immune Disorders - Drug Targets, Current Immunology Reviews and Current Rheumatology Reviews.
Dr Asiful's research interest covers different research areas of Medical Sciences including Haematology, Immunology, Pharmacology, Molecular Genetics and Neurosciences. He is currently focused on developing and executing systematic reviews and meta-analyses decoding various research questions of Medical Sciences.
Jose MG Izarzugaza
Associate Professor at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). As a senior scientist in Prof. Søren Brunak's group at the Center for Biological Sequence Analysis (CBS), I have a profound interest in different aspects of next generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis. This covers a broad spectrum of scenarios and applications. Actively involved in the Genome Denmark initiative, with two main goals: to assemble and annotate the first draft of the Danish reference genome and to identify viruses driving cancer. Other current projects include the prediction of the pathogenicity of mutations in the protein kinase superfamily for the TCGA/ICGC Pancancer initiative.
Goo Jun
I am currently an assistant professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. I work on statistical genetics, computational biology, bioinformatics, and sequence data analysis. With backgrounds in machine learning and data mining, my research is focused on development of computational and statistical methods for analysis of massive data to understand genetics and biology of complex traits. I have been working on the analysis of large-scale next-generation sequencing data, for which I developed statistical models and software pipelines for detecting sample contamination, variant discovery, machine-learning based variant filtering, and genotyping of structural variations. I also work on genetics of diabetes, obesity, and related traits and study of metabolomic and microbiome compositions related to genetics of common and complex traits.
Jiaqi Liang
Dr. Jiaqi Liang is a Researcher in the Department of Thoracic Surgery, Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University. Her research predominantly focuses on the clinical and molecular research of lung cancer.
Feng Liu
Feng Liu received his Ph.D. degree from the School of Life Science and Technology, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China and went on to work in the Department of Radiology and Tianjin Key Laboratory of Functional Imaging, Tianjin Medical University General Hospital, China. Now he is an associate professor and his current research interests include Brain and Cognition, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Imaging Genetic and Multivariate Pattern Analysis.
Current research focuses on investigating the impact of the environmental factors (e.g., green space, PM 2.5, etc) on human brain measured by magnetic resonance imaging.

Safarina G Malik
Safarina G. Malik is a Principal Investigator at the Genome Diversity and Disease Division of the Mochtar Riady Institute for Nanotechnology, Tangerang, Banten, Indonesia, since January 2022. From 2011 to 2021 she lead the Lifestyle Diseases Research Group at the Eijkman Institute for Molecular Biology, Jakarta, Indonesia. Her key research topics and expertise include genetic diversity, microbiome, mitochondrial genetics and dysfunction, medical genetics, lifestyle disease association, nutrigenetics-nutrigenomics, population genetics and evolution.
Laurent Metzinger
Laurent Metzinger has completed his PhD in Biological Sciences and Pharmaceutical studies in Strasbourg, France and was a postdoctoral fellow from the University of Oxford (UK) in a leading lab on Duchenne muscular Dystrophy (Pr. Kay Davies). He works on microRNA regulation in the HEMATIM team in Amiens, and focuses on anemia and related vascular disorders associated with Chronic Kidney DIsease. He has authored some of the first papers showing a role for microRNAs in CKD and published in reputed journals, including Nature and Cell. He teaches Biochemistry, Genetics and Molecular Biology in the Pharmacy School of Amiens (Université de Picardie Jules Verne).

Previously Professor at the Mediterranean University (Marseilles, France), Visiting Professor at the Ecole Normale Superieure of Lyon (France), Clinical Senior Lecturer at King's College London (UK), Visiting Professor at the Polytechnic University of Marche (Ancona, Italy), Visiting Professor at the Second University of Napoli (Napoli, Italy). Chief-Editor of the “Frontiers of Craniofacial Biology and Dental Research”, Associate Editor of “Stem Cell Research”, Scientific Editor of “European Cells & Materials”, and part of the editorial board in additional 8 scientific journals.
