Brittany N Lasseigne
Brittany N. Lasseigne, PhD is an Assistant Professor of Cell, Developmental and Integrative Biology at The University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine. She trained in Biotechnology, Science, and Engineering at Mississippi State University (B.S.) and the University of Alabama in Huntsville (Ph.D.) and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in genetics and genomics at the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology.
Her lab develops and applies genomic- and data-driven strategies (including single-cell and long-read sequencing) to discover biological signatures that might be used to improve patient care and provide insight into the cellular and molecular processes contributing to disease, especially for diseases impacting the brain and/or kidney. Their recent work includes prioritizing drug repurposing candidates for cancers and polycystic kidney disease, evaluating preclinical models and cross-species transcriptomic signatures to improve disease modeling, and applying single-cell and long-read technologies to neurological disease tissues to understand the role that context plays in disease etiology, progression, and treatment.
The Lasseigne Lab is currently focused on integrating genomics data, functional annotations, and patient information with machine learning and regulatory network approaches across diseases that impact the brain or kidney to discover novel mechanisms in disease etiology and progression, identify genome-driven therapeutic targets and opportunities for drug repositioning and repurposing, determine clinically-relevant biomarkers, and understand how cellular context contributes to these diseases. Collectively, these distinct projects all apply genetics and genomics to human diseases and build tools to accelerate future research. Their lab also develops data science software and analytical pipelines that are open-source, well-documented, and hosted by third-party code distributors, critical for facilitating reproducibility and enabling the research community to use the methods they develop.
Andrew P Lavender
Senior Lecturer in the Institute of Health and Wellbeing, Federation University Australia. Dr Lavender completed a BSc and a MSc in Sport Science at Edith Cowan University and PhD at Yokohama City University. He is currently teaching applied research for exercise science and motor control and conducting research in exercise for healthy ageing, exercise induced muscle damage and eccentric training and sport related concussion and sub-concussion.

Florian Lesage
Florian Lesage is senior research director at INSERM (French National Health Institute). He is a molecular biologist with extensive experience in ion channel cloning, expression and characterization, in particular in the neurosensory systems. Li Li
Dr. Li Li is Professor of Kinesiology within the Department of Health Sciences and Kinesiology at Georgia Southern University. His research is focused on the neuromuscular coordination of human postural control, especially postural stability during standing and walking.

Rafael Linden
M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Brazil, and currently a Full Professor and Head of the Laboratory of Neurogenesis, and former Director of the Institute of Biophysics Carlos Chagas Filho at UFRJ. Research work directed at mechanisms of development of the central nervous system, neurodegeneration, and gene therapy. Best known for contributions to the understanding of the control of programmed cell death in the central nervous system, and more recently, for studies of the functional properties of the prion protein, involved in the pathogenesis of both spongiform encephalopathies and Alzheimer’s Disease.
Feng Liu
Feng Liu received his Ph.D. degree from the School of Life Science and Technology, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China and went on to work in the Department of Radiology and Tianjin Key Laboratory of Functional Imaging, Tianjin Medical University General Hospital, China. Now he is a professor and his current research interests include Brain and Cognition, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Imaging Genetic and Multivariate Pattern Analysis.
Current research focuses on investigating the impact of the environmental factors (e.g., green space, PM2.5, etc) on human brain measured by magnetic resonance imaging.

Pengcheng Liu
Pengcheng Liu is a member of IEEE, IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS), IEEE Control Systems Society (CSS) and International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC). He is also a member of the IEEE Technical Committee on Bio Robotics, Soft Robotics, Robot Learning, and Safety, Security and Rescue Robotics. Dr Liu is an Associate Editor of IEEE Access, PeerJ Computer Science, and he received the Global Peer Review Awards from Web of Science in 2019, and the Outstanding Contribution Awards from Elsevier in 2017. He has published over 70 papers on flagship journals and conferences. He was nominated as a regular Funding/Grants reviewer for EPSRC, NIHR and NSFC and he has been leading and involving in several research projects and grants, including EPSRC, Newton Fund, Innovate UK, Horizon 2020, Erasmus Mundus, FP7-PEOPLE, NSFC, etc. He serves as reviewers for over 30 flagship journals and conferences in robotics, AI and control. His research interests include robotics, machine learning, automatic control and optimization.

Stephen L Macknik
Stephen L. Macknik trained as a postdoc with Zachary Mainen at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, and David Hubel at Harvard Medical School. He has a BA in Psychobiology, Biology and Psychology from the Univ of California, Santa Cruz, and a PhD in Neurobiology from Harvard Univ, with Margaret Livingstone. His research seeks to understand the neural underpinnings of visual awareness and attention, and the neural consequences of cerebral blood flow in the healthy brain and in neurological disorders.
Laura Maggi
She graduated in Biological Science and achieved the PhD at the University of Rome "Sapienza". She trained as a post doc with Enrico Cherubini at SISSA, and with Cornelius Gross at EMBL. She is Assistant Professor at the University of Rome "Sapienza”. The main projects of her lab are devoted to the study of long-term changes of neural activity in hippocampal slice as result of glia-neuron interactions and environmental stimulation, using electrophysiological and molecular techniques.
