I hold a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Burgos and a Bachelor's degree in the same field from the University of Valladolid. Additionally, I have earned an M.Sc. in Business Economics from UNED and an M.Sc. in Information Systems from the School of Industrial Management (EOI) in Madrid. At the outset of my career, I dedicated myself to developing methodologies for the study of complex systems, a commitment that has defined my research trajectory. My work is distinguished by a dual focus. First, I am deeply interested in employing a variety of methods and techniques—such as agent-based modeling, complex network theory, and machine learning. These approaches are instrumental in my ongoing study of complex systems. Second, I am committed to an interdisciplinary approach, actively collaborating with experts across engineering, social sciences, anthropology, and archaeology. This cross-disciplinary engagement has been crucial in tackling complex challenges, leading to significant contributions in both the social sciences and humanities and the domains of computer science and engineering.
Rossano Schifanella is an associate professor of computer science at the University of Turin and a researcher at ISI Foundation, where he is a member of the Data Science for Social Impact and Sustainability group. His research embraces the creative energy of a range of disciplines across machine learning, urban science, computational social science, complex systems, and data visualization. He leverages data-driven approaches to model the behavior of (groups of) individuals and their interactions in space and time, aiming at understanding the interplay between online and offline social behavior. He is passionate about understanding the dynamics of complex phenomena in modern cities and building interactive web interfaces to explore urban spaces and access human knowledge through geography.

Dr. Sethi specializes in improving outcomes in neonatal, child and maternal health by bridging medicine and artificial intelligence. His research is focused on development and deployment of machine-learning based solutions to enable decisions and policy in pressing healthcare questions such as antimicrobial resistance, sepsis and health inequalities in intensive care and public health settings.

Kaize Shi is with the Data Science and Machine Intelligence Lab, University of Technology Sydney. He has PhD degrees in computer science and computer systems, which are from the Beijing Institute of Technology, China, and the University of Technology Sydney, Australia. His research interests include natural language generation, social computing, cyber-physical-social systems, meteorological knowledge services, intelligent transportation, and artificial intelligence technology. He is the associate editor of IEEE Transactions on Computational Social Systems and academic editor of PeerJ Computer Science and Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing. He also served as a guest editor for the Information Fusion, International Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks, etc. He served as a program committee member for conferences of ACL, EMNLP, NeurIPS, SIGKDD, ICDM, etc. He is a member of the Artificial Intelligence Technical Committee of the China Meteorological Service Association.
Dr. Filipi Silva is a Research Scientist at the Observatory on Social Media (OSoMe), Indiana University. With a Ph.D. in Computational Physics from the University of São Paulo, his expertise lies in the intersection of complex networks, machine learning, text analysis and data visualization. Dr. Silva's research includes contributions to many fields, from bioinformatics, to digital art representation. He is the developer of Helios-Web, a state-of-the-art network visualization tool. And his current interests include mapping science, detecting suspicious activities and uncovering narratives in social media data.

Lexing Xie is Professor in the Research School of Computer Science at the Australian National University. She leads the ANU Computational Media lab (http://cm.cecs.anu.edu.au/). Her current research interests are in machine learning on graphs and time series, especially on understanding individual and aggregate behaviour in online social networks, at the intersection of media, language and behaviour. She was research staff member at IBM T J Watson Research Center 2005-2010. She is Associate editor for ACM TOIS, ACM TiiS and PeerJ CS.
Dr. Jiyang Yu's research is focused on systems biology, systems immunology, single-cell systems biology, immuno-oncology, translational oncology and functional genomics. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Zhejiang University, China. In 2008-2012, he was trained in Dr. Andrea Califano’s laboratory at Columbia University and earned his PhD degree in Biomedical Informatics.
Lisu Yu received a Ph.D. degree at Key Laboratory of Information Coding and Transmission, Southwest Jiaotong University, Chengdu, China. He was a Visiting Scholar at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, AR, USA, and the University of Houston, Houston, TX, USA. He has served as the student activities chair of IEEE Communication Society Chengdu Chapter and several international conferences technical program committee (TPC) members, Section Chair, and Special Track Chair.
