Doğan Aydın is a professor in the Department of Computer Engineering at Izmir Katip Çelebi University. He is particularly interested in swarm intelligence and optimisation techniques, as well as deep learning and computer vision. He has several publications in high impact journals in related fields.
He holds a PhD degree in Computer Engineering from Ege University and was a visiting researcher at the Artificial Intelligence research laboratory of IRIDIA, Université Libre de Bruxelles for two years. He is currently continuing his academic studies and also provides consultancy services to private sector companies in the field of artificial intelligence.
Woorham Bae received his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical and computer engineering from Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea, in 2010 and 2016, respectively.
In 2016, he was with the Inter-University Semiconductor Research Center, Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea. From 2017 to 2019, he was with the University of California, Berkeley, CA, as a Postdoctoral Researcher. He is currently a Senior Engineer with Ayar Labs, Santa Clara, CA. He is the author of Analysis and Design of CMOS Clocking Circuits for Low Phase Noise (London, UK: Institution of Engineering and Technology). His current research interests include integrated circuits for silicon photonics, high-speed I/O circuits and architectures, non-volatile memory systems, and agile hardware design methodology.
Dr. Bae serves as an Associate Editor of IEEE Access (2018~) and an Editorial Review Board of IEEE Solid-State Circuits Letters (2017~). He received the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society Outstanding Young Author Award in 2018, the Distinguished Ph.D. Dissertation Award from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Seoul National University in 2016, the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society Pre-Doctoral Scholarship in 2016, the IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society STG Award in 2015.
Dr. Javier Bajo, full professor at the Department of Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science School at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), helds (since 03/05/2019) the position of Director of the UPM-Accenture AI.nnovation Space Innovation Center in Artificial Intelligence. Before he was Director of the Department of Artificial Intelligence (20/05/2016-19/10/2017) at UPM, Secretary of the PhD in Artificial Intelligence at UPM (23/06/2016-19/10/2017) and Coordinator of the Research Master in Artificial Intelligence at UPM (18/02/2013 - 20/05/2016). He also hold the position of Director of the Data Center at the Pontifical University of Salamanca (13-10/2010 - 08-11-2012), with 21 employees.
Javier has been visiting professor at the Dartmouth College (USA, 2016, Salvador de Madariaga Grant), Osaka Institute of Technology (Japan, 2011, JSPS Invitation Fellowship Program for Research in Japan) and IRIT-University of Toulouse (France, 2013, 2014, 2015).
He is member of the Ontology Engineering Group at UPM. His main lines of research are Social Computing, Intelligent Agents and Multiagent Systems, Ambient Intelligence, Machine Learnging. He has supervised 13 Ph.D thesis, participated in more than 50 research projects (in most of them as principal investigator) and published more than 300 articles in recognized journals (81 JCR papers) and conferences. His h-index is 39. He is founder of the PAAMS series of conferences, and is an IEEE, ACM and ISIF member.
Burcu Bakir-Gungor received her B.Sc. degree in Biological Sciences and Bioengineering from Sabanci University; her M.Sc. degree in Bioinformatics from Georgia Institute of Technology; and her PhD degree from Georgia Institute of Technology/Sabanci University. She worked at the Bioinformatics Research Center, Medical College of Wisconsin, from 2007-2009. From 2009 to 2011, she worked at the Department of Computer Engineering, Bahcesehir University. Then, she worked as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Genetics and Bioinformatics, at the same university. From 2012 to 2013, she was part of the Advanced Genomics and Bioinformatics Research Center, UEKAE, BILGEM, TUBITAK. Now, she works as an Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Engineering at Abdullah Gul University. In 2022, she received a prestigious award called the L‘ORÉAL – UNESCO National Fellowship for Women in Science Programme. She is the recipient of ‘‘Best Paper’’ awards at the UBMK 2020 and 4th EvoBIO Conferences. She acted as a member of the bioinformatics advisory board of the Turkish Genome Project. She is an editorial board member of PeerJ journal; the reviewer of several prestigious international journals including Bioinformatics, Machine Learning, Journal of Computational Biology; and she is the Technical Program Committee member of UBMK and HIBIT conferences. Her research interests include bioinformatics, computational genomics, metagenomics, multi-omics, network and pathway-oriented analyses, next-generation sequencing data analysis; and applications of machine learning, data mining and pattern recognition in bioinformatics.
Valentina E. Balas is currently Full Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, “Aurel Vlaicu” University of Arad, Romania.
She holds a Ph.D. in Applied Electronics and Telecommunications from Polytechnic University of Timisoara. Dr. Balas is author of more than 350 research papers. Her research interests are in Intelligent Systems, Fuzzy Control, Soft Computing.
She is the Editor-in Chief to IJAIP and to IJCSysE, and is evaluator expert for national, international projects.
Dr. Balas is the director of Intelligent Systems Research Centre in Aurel Vlaicu University of Arad and Director of the Department of International Relations.
She served as General Chair of SOFA conferences in nine editions organized in the interval 2005-2020 and held in Romania and Hungary.
Dr. Balas participated in many international conferences as Organizer, Honorary Chair, Session Chair, member in Steering, Advisory or International Program Committees and Keynote Speaker.
She is a member of EUSFLAT, member of SIAM and a Senior Member IEEE, member in TC Fuzzy Systems (IEEE CIS), chair of the Task Force 14 in TC Emergent Technologies (IEEE CIS), member in TC Soft Computing (IEEE SMCS).
Dr. Balas was past Vice-president ( Awards) of IFSA -(2013-2015), is a Joint Secretary of the Governing Council of Forum for Interdisciplinary Mathematics. She is the recipient of the "Tudor Tanasescu" Prize from the Romanian Academy for contributions in the field of soft computing methods (2019) and “Stefan Odobleja” Prize from Romanian Academy of Scientists (2023).
Wolfgang Banzhaf is the John R. Koza Chair in Genetic Programming at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Michigan State University and an Honorary University Research Professor at Memorial University of Newfoundland. He received a "Diplom in Physik" degree in Physics from the LMU Munich and his Dr.rer.nat (PhD) from the Dept. of Physics of the TH Karlsruhe, now KIT. After a postdoc at the U. of Stuttgart, he was a Visiting and Senior Researcher at the Central Research Lab of Mitsubishi Electric in Japan and at MERL in Cambridge, USA. From 1993 to 2003 he was Associate Professor for Applied Computer Science at TU Dortmund.
Jose Alberto Benítez-Andrades received the B.S. degree in Computer Engineering and PhD in Production Engineering and Computing from the University of León, Spain, in 2010 and 2017 respectively. He is Associate Professor at the University of León. His research is related to the application of artificial intelligence techniques, knowledge engineering and social network analysis applied mainly to problems related to the field of health. He has more than 40 publications indexed in JCR, 30 communications in international conferences, is associate editor of the journal BMC Medical Informatics and Decision Making, has organized several international conferences since 2018 and is an evaluator of international projects for the government of Spain and Peru.
Prof. Elhadj Benkhelifa is a full Professor of Computer Science and Digital Innovations at Staffordshire University, where he is also the Head of Professoriate leading a large body of all Associate and Full Professors across the whole University with the mission to contribute, influence, shape and enable the collective advancement of the University’s strategies and develop excellence in T&L, research and enterprise. He is also a member of the University Research Ethics Committee.
I received the Laurea degree in Computer Science Engineering from the University of Naples Federico II, Italy, in 2003 and the Ph.D. degree in Information Engineering from the University of Sannio in 2007.
Since 2003 I have worked as a researcher in the field of software engineering writing more than 90 papers published in journals and conference proceedings. My main research interests include software maintenance and testing, software reuse, software reverse engineering, and re-engineering, with a particular interest in software modularization.
I also served both as a member of the program and organizing committees of several international conferences, and as a reviewer of papers submitted to some of the main journals and magazines in the field of data and process mining, software engineering, software maintenance, program comprehension, and the application of computational intelligence approaches in the above fields.
Currently, I am an Senior Researcher at University of Sannio, holding the course of "Pervasive Computing".
Dr. Siddhartha Bhattacharyya is currently serving as a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Christ University, Bangalore. He is a co-author of 5 books and the co-editor of 60 books and has more than 300 research publications in international journals and conference proceedings to his credit. He has got two PCTs to his credit. He has been a member of the organizing and technical program committees of several national and international conferences.
His research interests include hybrid intelligence, pattern recognition, multimedia data processing, social networks and quantum computing.
