Dr. Marwa Fayed is an Associate Professor of Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry within the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Sadat City, Egypt.
Interested in Phytochemical and Pharmacognostical studies of medicinal plants, isolation of bioactive constituents from different natural sources using advanced chromatographic techniques (separation on VLC, column chromatography using different adsorbents such as RP, Sephadex, Cellulose or Polyamide and separation using PC), structure elucidation of naturally isolated compounds using different spectroscopic techniques (1D, 2D).
More recently, she has developed a significant interest in monitoring the pharmacological effects and mechanism of action of different classes of chemical compounds isolated from natural sources and their possible role in medicine.
Maria Luisa Fernandez-Marcos graduated in Chemical Sciences from the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain) in 1976. She obtained her PhD in Chemistry from the University of Santiago de Compostela in 1985, specializing in Soil Science. Between 1979 and 1987 she was a secondary school teacher.
Since 1987 she is a professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela, in the area of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, where she has taught Soil Science, Environmental Pollution and related subjects. Her main research lines are: soil chemistry, soil fertility and management, biogeochemical cycles, soil and water pollution, environmental soil science, waste management and recycling, tropical soils, climate change mitigation and adaptation.
She is a member of the Spanish Society of Soil Science, Soil Science Society of America, International Union of Soil Sciences and Ibero-American Society of Environmental Physics and Chemistry.
I studied Statistics and Computer Sciences at the Technical University of Dortmund, Germany. During that time, my interest was particularly in mathematical statistics with a focus on high-dimensional extensions of the univariate median. After graduating, I moved to Tampere, Finland and completed my PhD in at the University of Tampere in Biostatistics with minor Bioinformatics.
While still being enrolled as PhD student at the University I started to work as a researcher in Bioinformatics at the MTT, Jokioinen, Finland. Since 2015 I am working at the Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) where I finalized my PhD.
My published articles in peer-reviewed journals cover a wide range of applications as well as statistical theory. My areas of expertise are target gene detection, biomarker identification and novel gene detection with a special focus on long non-coding RNAs. Further, I have experiences in the development of statistical methods for DE testing as well as deriving novel non-parametrical tests for (e)QTL analyses. I published and maintain currently six R-packages, i.e. for (e)QTL testing, cross-species ortholog detection and dimension reduction methods.
Dr. Kate Flay joined City University of Hong Kong in July 2020 as an Assistant Professor in Production Animal Health. After graduating with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science with distinction from Massey University in New Zealand, she entered rural veterinary practice and worked with a range of production livestock and companion animal species. Following this, Kate returned to Massey in 2015 as a Lecturer in Pastoral Livestock Health in the School of Veterinary Sciences. At this time she also completed her PhD, focussed on wastage and productivity of commercial ewes. During her time at Massey, Kate was involved with the wider veterinary industry, serving on the Society of Sheep and Beef Cattle Veterinarians of the New Zealand Veterinary Association Committee and the Continuing Professional Development Advisory Group.
Dr. Flay’s research is focused on improving productivity of production livestock, particularly small ruminants. She also has a particular interest in wastage of livestock, including risk factors associated with wastage and practical strategies farmers can implement to reduce wastage within their systems.
Dr. Ganopoulos received his BSc degree in Agriculture from the University of Thessaly (2000-2005) and his MS and PhD in Plant Breeding from AUTH (2005-2007/2008–2013). He has been awarded a Heracleitus PhD scholarship by the European Social Fund and the Hellenic National Fund. His recent scientific interests focus on epigenetics, DNA methylation, whole genome sequencing and trascriptomic analysis for molecular breeding purposes. He has participated in four research projects, one of them competitive European project. He has published 93 reviewed articles in SCI journals and h-index=27 (citations 2051 in Scholar google). He was a co-worker in national/international projects and he is Editor in Biochemical Genetics and PeerJ journals.
Dr. Suresh Gawande is a Principal Scientist at ICAR-Directorate of Onion and Garlic Research, Pune, India. He obtained his Ph.D. from the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, India in the discipline of Plant Pathology. His areas of interest are genomics of biotic and abiotic stress, host-pathogen-vector interaction of tospoviruses, microbial metagenomics, plant-pathogen diagnostics, mechanism of genetic and induced host plant resistance. Currently, he is working on biotechnological approaches for biotic stress management.

Dr. Rosanna Giordano is Assistant Professor at Florida International University, Institute of Environment.
She received her undergraduate degree from Dowling College, her master’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa, and her doctoral degree in Entomology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Dr. Giordano's primary research interests are focused on the population structure and genomics of invasive agricultural insect species such as aphids and honey bees. How the microbiome affects insect’s metabolism and their ability to cope with control strategies such as resistant plant varieties and insecticides. As well the development of genomic tools to track invasive insect species and to use insects as bio monitors of environmental pollution.
Dr. Aarti Gupta is a Research Scientist at the Institute of Genomics for Crop Abiotic Stress Tolerance (IGCAST), Texas Tech University.
She obtained her Ph.D in Plant Genetics and has expertise in the area of plant stress biology and plant molecular biology
Dr. Christophe Hano, completed his PhD in 2005 in Plant Physiology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and is now Assistant Professor at the University of Orleans at Research INRAE Lab LBLGC USC1328 and a member of the Cosm'ACTIFS Research Group (CNRS GDR3711). His research career has focused on applied plant metabolism, plant biotechnology and green (bio)chemistry.
Currently, he is developing research projects aimed at studying plant secondary metabolism to lead to the development of natural products with interests in pharmacology or cosmetics. His research focuses on the green extraction and analytical methods applied to plant polyphenols, elucidation of biosynthetic mechanisms of plant natural products and their exploitation by metabolic engineering approaches.
Dr. He is Associated Professor of Entomology of Center for Research and Development of Fine Chemicals of Guizhou University. His lab focuses on Insect Molecular Biology and Pest management, especially on insect olfactory mechanism and insect development. He received his PhD in 2012 from Nanjing Agricultural University.
