Subrata Deb

Dr. Subrata Deb is Chair & Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Larkin University, United States. Previous to this, he held positions at the Roosevelt University, The University of British Columbia and Tripura University.

Dr. Deb received his Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the Berhampur University and his Master of Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Mumbai. He received his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from The University of British Columbia and subsequently completed his postdoctoral fellowship from the Vancouver Prostate Centre, a National Centre of Excellence.

Dr. Deb’s primary research interests include Pharmacology, Toxicology, Pharmacogenomics, and Pharmacokinetics with special emphasis on Drug Metabolism and Drug Interactions.

Ioannis Gitas

Ioannis Gitas is a Professor at the Laboratory of Forest Management and Remote Sensing, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, and an elected fellow of the Cambridge Philosophical Society. His research has focused on remote sensing and GIS applications in environmental monitoring, with emphasis on forest fire management and land cover/land use mapping and change detection. He has been involved in various national and international projects and has long experience working as a consultant in GIS/RS issues for national and international organisations, as well as for the industry. Also, he has served as a project proposal reviewer for a number of national and international research organisations. Dr. Gitas received his PhD and M.Phil. degrees in GIS and Remote Sensing from the Department of Geography, Cambridge University, U.K., and a B.Sc. degree in Forestry and Natural Environment from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. He is an Associate Editor of Remote Sensing and has edited special issues for a number of high impact factor journals. In addition, he has substantial experience in organising international workshops and conferences. Ioannis Gitas is currently the Chair of the Special Interest Group on Forest Fires of the European Association of Remote Sensing Laboratories (EARSeL, FFSIG), the FAO Forest Resources Assessment - Remote Sensing Survey contact point for Greece, and is a member of the GOFC-GOLD Fire Implementation Team.

Elisabetta Ada Cavalcanti-Adam

E. Ada Cavalcanti-Adam is a research group leader at the Institute of Physical Chemistry, University of Heidelberg and head of Central Scientific Facility “Biomaterials and Molecular Biology” at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Stuttgart. Her main research interest is on extracellular stimuli which guide cell structure and functions with a special focus on the role of growth factors on cell adhesion and migration.

Albert Cheng

Albert Cheng obtained his BSc in Biochemistry and MPhil in Biology from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2005 and 2007, respectively. He studied neurotrophin signaling and C. elegans developmental genetics. He then pursued his PhD in Computational & Systems Biology at MIT in the labs of Profs Christopher Burge and Rudolf Jaenisch and worked on various topics on epigenetics, gene regulation and alternative splicing in stem cells, reprogramming, cancer metastasis, erythropoiesis and differentiation. Cheng and colleagues identified H3K27ac as a signature for active enhancers. He analyzed alternative splicing in epithetlial-mesenchymal transition, cancer metastasis as well as erythropoiesis and identified splicing factors regulating these processes. He constructed CRISPR-on, an artificial RNA-guided activator based on CRISPR/Cas. After graduating in 2014, he joined the Jackson Laboratory at Bar Harbor, ME, as one of the first JAX scholars where he continued to work on understanding and improving the CRISPR/Cas technology. In July 2015, he started his own lab as an assistant professor at the Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine campus at Farmington, CT.

Franco Milko Impellizzeri

Prof. Franco Impellizzeri is a professor within the School of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation at the University of Technology Sydney. He specializes in sport and exercise science and medicine, with extensive experience in applied sport science as both a researcher and practitioner, as well as in orthopedics, focusing on clinical outcome studies and clinimetrics.

Prof. Impellizzeri's research interests span research methodology and diverse areas of exercise science, including training and testing for both high-performance and health-focused outcomes. He has worked with elite Olympic athletes across various disciplines, encompassing both winter and summer sports, and has collaborated with international sports organizations.

My current research focuses on investigating whether or not the utilization of social information is taxonomically widespread, beneficial in different ecological conditions, and independent of permanent group-living similarly to the exploitation of other biotic or abiotic cues in the environment. I use several model systems to test related predictions in the contexts of foraging and predator avoidance, and build individual-based models to investigate how social information-mediated behavioural adjustments may affect population dynamics and species interactions.

Principal investigator of several projects at international, national and regional level, and has participated in over 20 research projects as a partner. Currently co-director of two doctoral courses on the brain regions associated with memory storage and Alzheimer's disease. Research is focused on the molecular and cellular basis of synaptic plasticity processes in the Central Nervous System.
