Sara Varela
I am working on Pleistocene mammal extinctions. Co-developer of R packages to download data from open access databases (rAvis and paleobioDB), and team member of www.ecoClimate.org, an open access repository to access climatic data for the past, present and future.
Hang Fai Kwok
Prof Kwok’s research interests mainly focus on the development of novel monoclonal antibodies and venom-based peptides as prototype drugs for anticancer and anti-inflammatory therapies. In addition, Prof. Kwok’s research group is also expanding scientific knowledge and research in the areas of existing and novel cancer biomarkers such as 1) matricellular protein — OPN, 2) metalloproteinase — ADAM17 & ADAMTS5, 3) DNA replication licensing factor — MCM proteins, 4) small GTP binding protein — RAN, as well as immunotherapy markers (e.g. PD-1/PD-L1) in order to identify and validate their prognostic and therapeutic values according to the roles in hallmarks of cancer.
Silvia Cimino
Prof. Silvia Cimino, PhD in Clinical and Developmental Psychology, completed a post-doctorate at “Sapienza” and is currently an Associate Professor in Clinical Psychology, within the Department of Dynamic and Clinical Psychology, Faculty of Medicine and Psychology at the “Sapienza “University of Rome.
She is a Child Psychotherapist of the AIPPI (Italian Association of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy of Childhood, Adolescence and the Family) and has worked as a clinician and researcher at the “Bambino Gesù” Pediatric Hospital for over 10 years.
She is the author of over 60 national and international publications (including articles, volumes, chapters in books), mainly focused on psychopathology in the first three years of life (eating, sleep, depressive disorders), psychopathological risk in adolescence (with particular reference to the impact of traumatic experiences ). She has also explored the area of parenting and maternal depression.

Ibrahim Elsohaby
Dr. Ibrahim Elsohaby is Assistant Professor in the Department of Infectious Diseases and Public Health and City University of Hong Kong. His current research investigates the One Health epidemiology of infectious and zoonotic diseases, including antimicrobial resistance. The aim of this research is to use epidemiologic and quantitative methods to develop realistic antimicrobial stewardship strategies based on a One Health approach and to reduce the risk of zoonotic diseases transmission to human contacts and general public.
Shravan Vasishth
Professor of Psycholinguistics at the Department of Linguistics, University of Potsdam, Germany. Specialization in computational models of sentence comprehension; sentence processing in aphasia; working memory and language comprehension; Bayesian statistics.
Nicola Reavley
Dr Nicola Reavley is a Principal Research Fellow in the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health at the University of Melbourne. Her research focuses on improving public knowledge and beliefs about mental health problems, reducing stigma and discrimination and improving support for those with mental disorders.
A/Prof Reavley is a Chief Investigator on five NHMRC-funded projects, three of which aim to improve mental health literacy in members of the public. She also led a number of projects that aim to assist organisations to better manage mental health issues, including the development of guidelines for implementation of a strategy for the prevention of mental health problems and for supporting employees returning to work after an episode of anxiety or depression, which can be found at http://workplace-mentalhealth.net.au/ . She also led the conduct of the 2011 National Survey of Mental Health Literacy and Stigma and the 2014 National Survey of Discrimination and Positive Treatment in People with Mental Health Problems.
Alberto Megías-Robles
Dr. Alberto Megías Robles is an Associate Professor at the Department of Basic Psychology of the University of Málaga. He received his PhD from the Experimental Psychology and Neurosciences program at the University of Granada. Dr. Megías-Robles' research career has mainly been developed in the Department of Basic Psychology at University of Malaga and in the Mind, Brain, and Behavioural Research Centre at University of Granada. Moreover, he has carried out research stays in other institutions such as the University College London, University of Helsinki, and University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Poland).
He has focused his research on the study of the interaction of emotion and cognition in decision-making processes from a psychology and cognitive neuroscience perspective. His research interests include emotion (particularly emotional abilities), risk and aggressive behaviour and traffic psychology.
Kaspar Staub
I am an epidemiologist and historian interested in anthropometry, body height, obesity and neonatal health on the one hand, and historical epidemiology (past and present epidemics and pandemics, etc.) on the other. I am leading a research group at the University of Zurich at the Institute of Evolutionary Medicine.
Christine E. Clayton
Professor of Microbiology at the University of Heidelberg. Member of the editorial boards of several journals, past or present membership of scientific advisory committees for WHO and public-private partnerships in tropical diseases.
Jonathan F. Colville
I am interested in the distribution and diversity patterns of insects and the reasons underlying observed patterns. I study both point diversity and compositional differences in insect and plant community patterns and relate these to ecological and evolutionary processes. I am also interested in the evolution of exaggerated traits in insects, such as those traits associated with sexual selection. The functional morphology of insect mouthparts, particularly of insect pollinators, are a further area of interest, as is the systematics and taxonomy of beetles (Scarabaeidae).
Hedley Emsley
Expertise in neurology, cerebrovascular disease, and the neurovascular-neurodegenerative interface, including the role of inflammation/infection, novel imaging measures, emerging therapeutic targets and clinical trials.
Career History:
Completed medical degree, including intercalated BSc in Pharmacology, University of Manchester (1996). House Officer and Senior House Officer posts in North West England and National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. Completed MRCP(UK) (1999), then undertook a three year clinical research post in Manchester leading to a PhD (2004). Completed neurology training, Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery then obtained CCT in Neurology (2008), as part of a Clinical Lecturer post, University of Liverpool. Appointed ConsuItant Neurologist with specialist interest in stroke neurology for Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS (2008-present). Also contributes to Lancashire and Cumbria Stroke Network developments. Honorary Lecturer for University of Liverpool. Member both the Association of British Neurologists and British Association of Stroke Physicians (BASP). Elected to the BASP Training and Education Committee in 2009, and appointed Chair of the committee (2010-present).
