Naoto Haruyama

Associate professor, Section of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, Faculty of Dental Science, Kyushu University, Japan.
Received his D.D.S (1998) and Ph.D. (2002) in Dentistry from Tohoku University, Japan.
Postdoc at NIDCR/NIH in the U.S. from 2004-2007.
Physician Scientist for patients with cleft lip/palate and/or other congenital anomalies.
Research: biomineralization, extracellular matrix proteins in teeth, tooth movement, and congenital anomalies.

Yuming Guo

Dr Yuming Guo is professor of Global Environmental Health and Biostatistics & Head of the Monash Climate, Air Quality Research (CARE) Unit. He is supported by an NHMRC Career Development Fellowship (Level 1 & 2). Prof Guo was awarded Master of Medicine (2009), and PhD (2012) from Peking University and Queensland University of Technology, respectively. Before moving to to Monash University in March 2017, Dr Guo held appointments at the University of Queensland, Queensland University of Technology, and Peking University.

His research group focuses on environmental epidemiology, biostatistics, global environmental change, air pollution, climate change, urban design, residential environment, remote sensing modelling, and infectious disease modelling.

Prof Guo is appointed an adjunct professor by The University of Melbourne, The University of Queensland, The University of Oulu (Finland), Jinan University (Guangzhou), and Chongqing Medical University. He was awarded a visiting fellow of London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine supported by the Leverhulme Trust.

Prof Guo has published extensively (over 260 high quality papers) in prestigious international journals including the highest-ranked journals (NEJM, Lancet, BMJ, Nature, Nature Medicine, PLoS Medicine, Nature Communications, Thorax, The Lancet Planetary Health, Environmental Health Perspectives, Environment International, etc). His works are highly cited, with >20,000 citations and H-index of 54.

Jacob J Hughey

I’m an Assistant Professor of Biomedical Informatics and Biological Sciences at Vanderbilt University. My group's research is centered around developing and applying computational methods to large, noisy datasets in order to quantify, model, and understand dynamic biological systems. We are particularly interested in the mammalian circadian system.

Spyridon Ν. Papageorgiou

Spyros Papageorgiou’s main scientific interests encompass biological and mechanical aspects of orthodontic treatment, giving emphasis in improving treatment outcome and reducing treatment duration and side-effects. His focus is on evidence-based orthodontics founded on systematic reviews with conventional meta-analysis or network meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials, clinical trials assessing the comparative effectiveness or adverse effects of different orthodontic treatment modalities, factors influencing the length and outcome of orthodontic treatment, sources of bias in clinical research in orthodontics, optimization of treatment mechanics to enhance their efficiency by investigating clinical scenarios with numerical (finite element) simulations, and the effect of health and systematic diseases on the biology of orthodontic tooth movement.

Guido Hesselmann

Guido Hesselmann is Professor of General and Biological Psychology at the Psychologische Hochschule Berlin (PHB), Germany. His primary research interests are experimental psychology, cognitive neuroscience and visual perception.

Jose MG Izarzugaza

Associate Professor at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). As a senior scientist in Prof. Søren Brunak's group at the Center for Biological Sequence Analysis (CBS), I have a profound interest in different aspects of next generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis. This covers a broad spectrum of scenarios and applications. Actively involved in the Genome Denmark initiative, with two main goals: to assemble and annotate the first draft of the Danish reference genome and to identify viruses driving cancer. Other current projects include the prediction of the pathogenicity of mutations in the protein kinase superfamily for the TCGA/ICGC Pancancer initiative.

Xiangqin Cui

Xiangqin Cui is an associate professor in the Biostatistics and Bioinformatics Department at Emory University. She received her Ph.D in Genetics at Iowa State University in 2001 and a three-year postdoctoral training in statistical genetics at the Jackson Laboratory afterwards. She spent 13 years at UAB before moving to Emory in 2017. Her current research is on observational studies using electronics health records and clinical trials.

Huan-Tsung Chang

Professor Huan-Tsung Chang was born in Chung-Hua, Taiwan in 1962. He graduated from Iowa State University, USA in 1994 and became an associate professor and a professor in the Department of Chemistry, National Taiwan University, Taiwan in 1996 and 2001, respectively.

His research focuses on preparation of functional gold nanoparticles for control of enzyme activity and for the detection of metal ions, proteins, and DNA. A number of fluorescent gold, silver and copper nanomaterials have been synthesized and used for sensitive and selective for cell imaging and for the detection of various analytes, including anions, metal ions, proteins, and DNA. Carbon nanodots and fluorescent polymeric spheres have been synthesized and applied for cell imaging in his group. In addition, he has developed nanoparticle based mass spectrometry techniques for the detection of polysaccharides, proteins, small analytes, and DNA. His research interests also include surface enhanced Raman scattering, fuel cells, removal of contaminants using nanomaterials, and capillary electrophoresis.

Professor Chang is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry. He was awarded the Academic Achievement Award, Chinese Chemical Society in 2015, and the Prof. Rudolph A. Marcus Award 2017. He has been named a 2017 Highly Cited Researcher (Clarivate Analytics).

Sule Dogan

Dr. Sule Dogan has BSc in Biology from Ankara University, MSc in Embryology and another Master’s degree in science education, both from Dokuz Eylul University in Turkey. After completing her Andrology and Embryology training, she worked at the IVF Clinic of Dokuz Eylul University Medical School between 2007 and 2009. She completed her PhD in Life Sciences/ Genetics program at Mississippi State University. Dr. Dogan joined IVF Michigan Fertility Centers as an embryologist in 2013, started serving as the quality control and laboratory supervisor in 2015 and then became the laboratory director in 2019. She has opened up new andrology laboratories, trained many andrologists and embryologists. She is currently serving as the director of laboratory operations in many locations of IVF Michigan and IVF Ohio Fertility Centers. Dr. Dogan is a certified by ABB as Technical Supervisor in Andrology and Embryology, and as High Complexity Lab Director (HCLD). She has many publications in international journals, including many book chapters. Dr. Dogan has been serving as a reviewer for scientific journals and conferences since 2010.

Fabrizio Mattei

Dr. Fabrizio Mattei graduated from University “La Sapienza” in Rome and completed his specialization in biotechnologies and oncology at the same university. In 2000, he became a fellow at the Edward Jenner Institute for Vaccine Research in David Tough's laboratory (Newbury, U.K.), where he acquired experience in the field of dendritic cell immunology. He is currently a Researcher, Group Leader and Principal Investigator at the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (Rome, Italy), where he has focused on the molecular interactions between dendritic cells and type I Interferons signalling.
His current research is aimed at understanding the role of Interferons signalling and IL-33 in the interface between tumor and immune system in both mouse and human models. Furthermore, he is also conducting research aimed at investigating on crosstalk between immune system and cancer by Cell-on-Chip devices. In addition, Dr. Mattei is developing a multidisciplinary laboratory network focused at the realization of Organ-On-Chip platforms, useful to mimic and study human diseases and cancer.
