Sharif S Aly
As a veterinary epidemiologist I specialize in dairy cattle infectious diseases and welfare. I received my veterinary medicine degree from Cairo University (1998), practiced for two years before completing the Food Animal Production Medicine Internship at the Caine Veterinary Teaching Center at the U of Idaho, followed by the Food Animal Reproduction and Herd Health Residency at U of California, Davis. I completed my masters and doctoral degrees at UC Davis in Preventive Veterinary Medicine and Epidemiology, respectively.
Mehmet Burak Ateş
Dr. Mehmet Burak ATEŞ is a researcher supporting the integration of innovative educational technology for clinical teaching and learning in veterinary health sciences.
His special interests are veterinary pathology, experimental pathology, toxicopathology, molecular pathology, molecular oncology, liver and brain pathology.

Travis Beddoe
Prof. Travis Beddoe is a multidisciplinary scientist, training initially as a plant biochemist before studying molecular chaperones in mitochondrial targeting as a PhD student (awarded March 2004), and eventually training in biophysical and structural biology in immune receptors as a postdoctoral researcher. He started his independent research career at Monash University with an NHMRC CDA fellowship (2008) followed by a Pfizer Australia Research fellowship (2010) in the area of glycan specificity in bacterial pathogenesis and physiology. Dr. Beddoe changed research fields when he was recruited to La Trobe University in 2014 as a senior lecturer to establish a laboratory focused on livestock-pathogen interactions in the School of Animal, Plant and Soil Science located in the AgriBio centre. His research is concentrated on aiding animal health with a focus on field-based diagnostics, molecular understanding of the role glycans and glycan-binding proteins play in disease pathogenesis and vaccine development.
Anne Conan
Dr. Anne Conan is a veterinary epidemiologist. Her main research topic is the epidemiology of infectious diseases in low-income farming systems, including the consequences of the intensification of chicken farming, the epidemiology of African swine fever , the epidemiology of Coxiella burnetii in humans and livestock, and the control of rabies in humans and dogs. She has worked in Cambodia, South Africa, St. Kitts (West Indies) and Hong Kong SAR. She is now based in Zimbabwe studying the topics of One Health and of the surveillance of infectious diseases.
Ibrahim Elsohaby
Dr. Ibrahim Elsohaby is Assistant Professor in the Department of Infectious Diseases and Public Health and City University of Hong Kong. His current research investigates the One Health epidemiology of infectious and zoonotic diseases, including antimicrobial resistance. The aim of this research is to use epidemiologic and quantitative methods to develop realistic antimicrobial stewardship strategies based on a One Health approach and to reduce the risk of zoonotic diseases transmission to human contacts and general public.
Carlos Eurico Fernandes
Dr. Carlos Eurico Fernandes is Professor within the Experimental Pathology Laboratory at the Institute of Biosciences, Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil.
His research within the Experimental Pathology Laboratory focuses on descriptive and functional histology, with an emphasis on biometric, histological, histopathological and histomorphometric analyses, having fish and anurans as experimental models.
Zeljko Grabarević
Education: D.V.M., Ph.D., Veterinary Faculty Zagreb, field of pathological anatomy. Professor of the Department of General Pathology and Pathological Morphology at the Veterinary Faculty Zagreb.
Summary of research activity: Experimental gastrointestinal diseases especially inflammatory bowel disease and ulcer disease; neoplastic diseases of the dogs and cats with comparative tumor pathology; monitoring of the new diseases emerging in Croatia.
Memberships and awards: European Society of Veterinary Pathology, European Society of Veterinary Clinical Pathology, New York Academy of Sciences, Croatian Veterinary Association, Award for the contribution to the field of comparative pathology Prof. dr. Ljudevit Jurak.
Publications: main editor of the official journal of the Croatian Veterinary Association –Croatian Veterinary Record; more than 300 publications among which more than 90 are published in the SCI indexed journals; five books and textbooks in the field of pathological anatomy.
Mohamed Lounis
Dr Mohamed Lounis is a Lecturer at the Department of Agroveterinary Sciences, University of Ziane Achour Djelfa, Algeria. He completed his PhD in veterinary epidemiology from the University of Blida in 2018.
His research broadly concentrates on human and animal epidemiology. More precisely, he began his research on animal colibacillosis including calf and avian colibacillosis with Escherichia coli genotyping and phenotyping and antibiotic resistance. Later, he conducted multiple studies related to the epidemiology of COVID-19 in Algeria and in Arabic countries. These works were mainly based on modeling the propagation of the disease and the attitudes toward COVID-19 and its vaccines.
Dr. Lounis is also working on a One health approach through different surveys about multiple animal and public health threats including drug use and antibiotic resistance, infectious diseases including HPV infections, AIDS, monkeypox, viral hepatitis (A-E) and other zoonotic diseases including bacterial (tuberculosis, brucellosis...), parasitic (echinococcosis, leishmaniasis…) and viral (rabies, arboviroses…) diseases. He is also working on the epidemiology of non transmissible diseases including cancer, diabetes, hypertension..
Sonia MR Oliveira
Doctor Sonia Oliveira holds a Licenciatura in Biology (pre-Bologna) and a Master in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Aveiro, where she also specialized in medicinal plants, toxicology, murine models, and spermatogenesis. In 2011 she moved to Australia to work in Reproductive Biological Sciences. She later explored the nerve-cancer connection in Cancer, namely in female cancers, and completed her Ph.D. in Human Physiology ( with a significant component in Medical Biochemistry and Neurophysiology) from the University of Newcastle (Australia) in 2018. She then worked with biomimetic systems and nanotechnology in diabetes and stem cells. She explored multiple methods for primary and secondary cell culture, always with a keen interest in histopathology, cell biology, and rare disorders. Participated in >40 event(s). (Co-)Supervised MSc dissertation(s) and final projects for course completion of LSc/BSc. And works mostly in the area(s) of Natural sciences with emphasis on Molecular and Cellular Biology, and Medical and Health Sciences with emphasis on Neurosciences, Cancer, Reproduction, Toxicology, Biotechnology, and Stem cells. Also has collaborations in Microbiology, Biomaterials, and Communication and Information technologies.
