Rita Castilho
Assistant Professor of Evolution and Marine Biogeography at the University of Algarve and researcher at the Center for Marine Sciences.
My research is mainly question-driven, instead of model driven and I am interested primarily in understanding evolutionary principles. Therefore I am not confined to a particular type of organism, habitat or region.
Guillermo Castilla
I am a remote sensing research scientist at the Canadian Forest Service. I integrate geospatial technologies to map and monitor land cover, forest structure and composition, and natural (e.g., fire, insect outbreaks) and anthropogenic (forestry, oil and gas) disturbances in support of forest ecosystems and climate change science and policy.
Ricardo Castro Alves
Dr. Ricardo Castro Alves specialises in periodontology and is the Head of the Department of Periodontology at the Instituto Universitário Egas Moniz. His is also Head of the Clinical Research Unit at Centro de Investigação Interdisciplinar Egas Moniz (CiiEM), Co-Coordinator of the Post-Graduate Program in Clinical Periodontology, Professor of the Post-Graduate Program in Implant Dentistry and an invited Professor at several Post-Graduation Courses.
Eduardo Castro-Nallar
Originally trained as a biochemist, got a PhD in Biological Sciences at The George Washington University, and now is a Professor in the Center for Integrative Ecology and in the Department of Microbiology, Universidad de Talca, Chile.
Eduardo is interested in microbial (meta)genomics, computational biology, and bioinformatics.
Ruben J. Cauchi
Ruben J. Cauchi is an Associate Professor of Neurogenetics at the University of Malta School of Medicine. He obtained his D.Phil. from the University of Oxford (UK) and did his postdoctoral research at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, University of Cambridge (UK). Prof. Cauchi heads the ALS/MND Lab at the University of Malta and leads Malta’s National ALS/MND Registry & BioBank, aiming at understanding the cause of motor neuron disease (MND) including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and identify innovative treatments.
Elisabetta Ada Cavalcanti-Adam
E. Ada Cavalcanti-Adam is a research group leader at the Institute of Physical Chemistry, University of Heidelberg and head of Central Scientific Facility “Biomaterials and Molecular Biology” at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Stuttgart. Her main research interest is on extracellular stimuli which guide cell structure and functions with a special focus on the role of growth factors on cell adhesion and migration.
Marco Cavalli
Marco Cavalli obtained the PhD in Environmental Watershed Management in 2009 at the TeSAF (University of Padova) with a thesis on "Hydrological and morphological characterization of mountain basins by means of airborne LiDAR technology”. Since 2009 Marco Cavalli is Researcher at CNR-IRPI of Padova. His research interests include: Geomorphometry, Airborne Laser Scanning technology (LiDAR) and high-resolution DTMs applications, Geomorphic processes in mountain catchments, Post Flash flood investigation, analysis of historical information, GIS and surface hydrology. Currently, his main interest is related to sediment connectivity assessment through geomorphometric approaches.
He is\was scientific responsible or coordinator of CNR IRPI in several National and European projects (SedAlp, GESTO, Gadria Project, KINOFLOW). Since 2011 he is teaching a course for PhD and post doc researchers entitled 'Geomorphometry: quantitative analysis of earth surface' at the University of Padova. He is\was supervisor of three research grants at CNR IRPI, co-advisor of two PhD and several B.S. and M.S. theses of the University of Padova, Udine, Wageningen, Stockholm on geomorphology and hydrology fields. He is author and co-author of more than 50 papers in international journals.
Christoph Centner
Dr. Christoph Centner is a researcher within the Department of Sport and Sport Science at the University of Freiburg. Christoph carries out research in Exercise as well as Sports Medicine.
His primary research areas include Resistance Training, Muscle Physiology, Clinical Biomechanics, Sports Medicine, and Exercise Physiology. More specifically, his current project focuses on the effects of blood flow restriction training on musculoskeletal and tendinous adaptations.
Luca Cerniglia
I have a PhD in Dynamic, Clinical and Developmental Psychology.
My main areas of interest are: mother-infant and father infant interactions; eating disorders; loss and trauma; attachment; adoelscence.
I am currently working in Rome, Italy, at International Telematic University Uninettuno.
Simone Cesaro
Graduated in Medicine in 1988 at the University of Padua. Pediatrician in 1992. I have been actively involved in pediatric hematology and oncology, especially in chemotherapy for leukemia and lymphoma, supportive care, and early and late effects of treatment, and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT).
Appointed in 2009 Director of the Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Unit at the Department of Pediatrics in Verona. Member of the scientific committees of several working groups including Pediatrics (for MASCC), Supportive Care (for SIOP), Aplastic Anemia, Infection (for EBMT), hematopoietic stem cell transplant, Infection, Supportive care (for AIEOP). Appointed in 2005 and 2015 Chairman of the Supportive Care Group and Infection of AIEOP (Italian Association of Pediatric Hematology Oncology), respectively. Appointed in 2010, Chairman of Infectious Diseases Working Party of European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation.
Author of more than 200 publications in peer-reviewed journals. Medical advisor of the charities Paul O’Gorman Lifeline (UK) and Lifeline Italia, liaising with and advising pediatric hematology and oncology centers in Russia, Ukraine, Georgia and Kyrgyzstan.
Tianfeng Chai
Tianfeng Chai is an Associate Research Scientist at CICS-MD and the Department of Atmospheric & Oceanic Science, University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland, USA. He got his master and bachelor degrees from Tsinghua University in Beijing, majoring in Fluid Mechanics, Engineering Mechanics, and Environmental Engineering. He earned his Ph.D. at the University of Iowa, with his dissertation of "Four-Dimensional Variational Data Assimilation Using Lidar Data" focusing on atmospheric boundary flow. He then worked with Dr. Greg Carmichael to develop chemical transport model adjoints and computational framework for data assimilation applications before moving to working on the NOAA National Air Quality Forecast Capability (NAQFC) project in 2007. He currently works on the inverse modeling problems using HYSPLIT (Hybrid Single Particle Lagrangian Integrated Trajectory Model) to support several projects at NOAA Air Resources Laboratory.
John H Challis
Prof. John H. Challis Ph.D. is a Professor of Kinesiology at Pennsylvania State University in the Department of Kinesiology. His research focuses on biomechanics, and the coordination and function of the musculo-skeletal system, with specializations in the following areas:
- Measurement and simulation modeling of the human musculo-skeletal system
- Examination of human segmental inertial properties
- Development of improved biomechanical measurement protocols
