I am an Associate Professor and Head at the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Management, and the director of the Natural Resources and Environmental Research Center at the University of Haifa in Israel. I am an alumnus of the Global Young Academy. I received a PhD in Analysis and Governance of Sustainable Development from the University of Venice (Italy) in 2008. An environmental engineer by training, my research spans over a range of fields including the valuation and mapping of ecosystem services and the passive crowdsourcing of social media data in environmental research. I have published >50 peer-reviewed scientific articles and contributed to high-profile international initiatives such as TEEB-The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity, the UNEP/GEF Project for Ecosystem Services (ProEcoServ), and the Ecosystem Service Partnership.
I`m interested in inter-disciplinary approaches, comprising population and community ecology, genomics and spatial statistics, to understand how the alteration of natural habitats influences biodiversity and the provision of ecosystem services.
Chenxi Li is an Associate Professor at School of Public Administration, Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology, Xi’an, China. He has been invited as an article editor for journal of SAGE Open in 2020.He has been invited as an Associate Editor for International Journal of Environmental Science and Technology in 2021. He has authored and co-authored more than 25 papers and book chapters in his fields. His research interests include Natural Resource Management, Environmental Sciences, Land Use and Cover Change, Coupled-natural-and-human-systems, Urban-Rural Integrated Development.
I am a quantitative ecologist interested in ecological forecasting and the stability of populations, communities, and ecosystems. I have expertise in statistical analyses of ecological systems, population modeling, and the analysis of remote sensing data to address environmental problems.
Matthew (Matt) Wilson is a Professor in Spatial Information and Director of the Geospatial Research Institute Toi Hangarau at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand. He is a surface water hydrologist and geographical information scientist with specialisations including flood risk, surface water dynamics, water resources, remote sensing, numerical model development, uncertainty analysis and the assessment of the potential impacts of climate change. Previous research has included the assessment of the potential impacts of climate change on flood risk and water resources in the Caribbean and the analysis of surface water hydrodynamics on a 300 km reach of the Amazon River in Brazil. In New Zealand, his current research includes leading the uncertainty theme for a national scale flood risk assessment, the creation of a digital twin for flood resilience, and the creation of algorithms for processing of novel airborne GNSS reflectometry measurements for estimation of soil water content.
