Dr. Eduardo J. Fernandez is a Senior Lecturer of Applied Animal Behaviour and Welfare in the School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences at the University of Adelaide (Australia). He received his Ph.D. in Psychology (minors in Neuroscience and Animal Behavior) from Indiana University and his M.S. in Behavior Analysis from the University of North Texas.
Most of his past and current work involves behavioral research applied to the welfare and training of zoo, aquarium, and companion animals. He runs the Operant Welfare Lab (OWL), which is dedicated to the use of learning principles to improve the lives of animals across many settings, including exotic animals in zoos and aquariums and companion animals in homes and shelters. OWL is also part of the larger Animal Behaviour, Welfare, and Anthrozoology Lab (ABWAL; abwal.com).

Research interests include animal behaviour (and specifically animal social networks), host-parasite ecology, and conservation biology.
I work on a number of evolutionary and ecological questions with a number of species of birds in both the field and laboratory. Captive model systems such as the Gouldian finch and zebra finch provide excellent opportunities to understand diversity in questions relating to speciation, sociality, sexual selection, and signalling. We are also interested in how Australia's extreme and highly stochastic climate influences behaviour and life history evolution.
Graduated in Biological Science - University of Buenos Aires (1991), Ph.D. in Science - University of Buenos Aires (1997). Developed postdoctoral experience in CPqRR-FIOCRUZ (1999-2002) and Swedish Agricultural University (2009-2011). Associate researcher (between 2002-2006) and senior researcher of the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (since then). Main experience in Insect Physiology (emphasis on Behavioral Physiology), acting on the following topics: behavior, pheromones, kairomones, electrophysiology, functional genomics of sensory processes, triatomines, culicids, development of baits and traps for vector control. More than 60 papers published on diverse topics related to insect neuroethology. His research group studies the sensory ecology of disease vectors using a multidisciplinary approach. Research by the group takes advantage of techniques ranging from neurobiology to analytical chemistry, molecular biology and behavior. Editorial board member of PLOS ONE, Frontiers in Ecology and Evolution, Physiological Entomology and Neotropical Entomology. Current Vice-President of Latin American Association of Chemical Ecology and recently elected councilor of the International Society of Chemical Ecology.
Dr. Alan McElligott is an Associate Professor in Animal Behaviour and Welfare at the Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences, City University of Hong Kong. He received his BSc from University College Cork, PhD from University College Dublin, and postdoctoral training at the University of Zurich. After serving as faculty member at the University of Nottingham, Queen Mary University of London and the University of Roehampton, he joined City University of Hong Kong in 2020. Dr. McElligott's main research areas include animal behaviour and cognition, animal welfare, and vocal communication.

Dr. Matthew Silk is a MSCA Research Fellow at the Centre d'Ecologie Fonctionnelle et Evolutive in Montpellier. He is interested in social networks, animal behaviour and disease ecology
Dr. Tamara Tadich is a researcher within the Institute of Animal Science at the Universidad Austral de Chile.
Her research interests include animal welfare in productive species with an emphasis on equids (horses, mules and donkeys), using tools of applied ethology and physiology.
My current research focuses on investigating whether or not the utilization of social information is taxonomically widespread, beneficial in different ecological conditions, and independent of permanent group-living similarly to the exploitation of other biotic or abiotic cues in the environment. I use several model systems to test related predictions in the contexts of foraging and predator avoidance, and build individual-based models to investigate how social information-mediated behavioural adjustments may affect population dynamics and species interactions.
