Cristina Bilbao-Sainz
Summary
Dr. Cristina Bilbao-Sáinz is an agricultural engineer with an M.S. and Ph.D. in agricultural engineering from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain. Following her M.S. degree, she was awarded a 6 month professional training grant to work in the microbiology unit at the Agrotechnological Research Institute ATO-DLO in Wageningen, Netherlands. In 2002, she received her Ph. D. degree, cum laude, in the field of Food Technology. Following her dissertation, Dr. Bilbao served for two years as a Marie-Curie post-doctoral fellow at Unilever Food Company in England. She also worked as a post-doctoral fellow at Washington State University where she conducted research on new technologies for food preservation. In 2008, she joined the Healthy Processed Foods Research Unit at the USDA-ARS in Albany, CA to perform research on new sustainable technologies for processing specialty crops and value-added processing of their co-products.
