Abhiram Maddi

PeerJ Author & Reviewer

Summary

Dr. Abhiram Maddi is an investigator in the field of oral microbiology and mycology. He is a clinician scientist with pre-doctoral and post-doctoral clinical and research training. He has obtained extensive research experience in the area of fungal genetics and microbiology. His focus area of study is fungal cell walls, which he has investigated during his research training programs. Dr. Maddi's research has made significant contributions to the understanding of cell wall biogenesis in fungi. His work has led to several national and international publications that have been cited by leading scientists. Additionally, he has received several scholarships, awards and postdoctoral fellowships based on his research training. Dr. Maddi's long term goal is to develop novel and effective antifungal drug targets and drugs to overcome the significant problem of antifungal resistance. In his NIh/NIDCR funded research investigates the role of important antifungal drug targets in cell wall biogenesis of the fungal pathogen Candida albicans.
