Summary
Prof. Dr. Tehreema Iftikhar, a Botanist working as the Professor, Department of Botany, Govt. College University, Lahore. She is serving in the capacity of Professor (BPS-21) since 2019. She is also been elected as Vice President (Punjab) Pakistan Botanical Society. She is fellow Biological Society of Pakistan, She is life member, Pakistan Botanical Society. Earlier she was elected and held the office of Joint Secretary, Pakistan Botanical Society (2012-2013). She chaired Department of Botany, GCU Lahore for more than 3 years. Prior to her current appointment of Professor at Govt. College University Lahore, she has served as Associate Professor Department of Botany, Lahore College for Women University, Lahore for four years. Earlier she served GCU Faisalabad for 12 years in the capacity of lecturer, Assistant Professor and Associate Professor. She also served Govt. of Punjab for three years in the capacity of Assistant Professor. Prof. Dr. Tehreema Iftikhar earned her MSc, MPhil and PhD in the subject of Botany from the Government College University Lahore. She was awarded Governor’s award for PhD in Botany from GCU Lahore. She was also awarded PhD fellowship for Seoul National University, Seoul, South Korea awarded by Higher Education Commission, Pakistan. She was awarded Post Doctorate Fellowship Award (PDFP) by HEC Pakistan for Cornell University, NY, USA in her area of specialization. Prof. Dr. Tehreema Iftikhar has extensive research experience which is reflected in her national and international research publications. A patent is on her credit in 2021 as the leading submitter. She is the submitter of seven patents in year 2023. She has 100+ publications with an impact factor of 100+ on her credit. She successfully completed a research project of worth 6.22 million PKR sponsored by Higher Education Commission Pakistan. While 125 students have completed/completing their PhD, MPhil BS and MSc level research dissertations under her supervision. She has also supervised the international students from Azerbaijan under the program “Comstech Consortium of Excellence” in Applied Botany lab. She has successful research collaborations with various industries in Pakistan. She has successfully completed “Women leadership training 2022” at Higher Education Commission, Pakistan. Currently, she has been selected for Aspiring Leaders Cohort (Cohort 2) of the Empowering Women in Higher Education in Pakistan program 2023, which is sponsored by the Michigan State University (MSU) and U.S. Department of State. Besides this, she has organized, attended and read research papers in national and international conferences, seminars and symposia. Her research and pedagogical skills have been widely appreciated. In recognition of her invaluable services in the field of science and technology, she received Several research awards from various institutes. She has been served her duties as Secrecy Officer (Office of the Controller of Examination) for four years at GCU Faisalabad. She has also served GC University Faisalabad as warden and superintendent in various girls hostels. She has also served as the member of the various Departmental and University level committees as well GCUF and LCWUL. Prof. Dr. Tehreema Iftikhar believes in the ingenuity of human mind. Thus, she endeavors to invest extensively in research which, according to her, is the best path leading to social progress.
