Summary
I’m Yuriy Karetin, a senior researcher at Laboratory of Embryology, National Science Center of Marine Biology FEB RAS (NSCMB), and an assistant professor at Department of Cellular Biology and Genetics, Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU).
Immediately after graduating from Far Eastern National university in 2002, I enrolled as a PhD student at department of cellular biology and genetics, Far Eastern Federal University. In 2005, under the guidance of PhD. Isaeva V.V., I successfully defended my thesis “Fractal properties of cells and cellular ensembles” and was awarded with PhD degree in biology.
My scientific interests include various fields of cellular biology, cell morphology, cell behavior, and applicability of non-linear analysis for cellular morphometry and classification in vitro. Fundamental goals of my research are: description of fibroblast-like cell morphology using numerical statistically significant methods, search for correlations between morphological parameters, dynamics of intracellular cell-shape forming processes and extracellular cell shape and cell behavior influencing factors. Methodology I’m developing allows for provision of statistically significant description and analysis of cell shape dynamics, identification of type- and species-specific cell morphology peculiarities, quantification of experimental effects influences on cell morphology, and linkage of cell shape peculiarities with dynamics of intracellular cell-shape forming processes.
