Summary

He is a microbiologist and is responsible for the laboratory of Microbiology and Biological Assays of the Department of Biological, Chemical and Pharmaceutical Science and Technology(University of Palermo, Italy). He is scientifically responsible for or collaborates with research projects regarding the discovery of new antiinfective
and antibiofilm agents in particular against staphylococcal biofilms. He concentrates on both synthetic organic compounds andnatural products as antimicrobial peptides. He is an author of 91publications in peer review journals. From 2001 to date, he has been teaching General Microbiology to the students of the School of Pharmacy of University of Palermo. He has acted as a reviewer for several journals in the applied microbiology field.
