Senior Research Fellow and Clinical Nurse Consultant

University of Adelaide
Australian Dysautonomia and Arrhythmia Research Collaborative
Dr Celine Gallagher is a Senior Research Fellow and Clinical Nurse Consultant dedicated to advancing evidence-based, person-centred care for people living with cardiovascular and autonomic disorders. With more than 20 years of experience across clinical practice, academic research, and service innovation, her work sits at the intersection of nursing leadership, translational research, and health-system improvement. As Senior Research Fellow at the University of Adelaide and South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute, Celine leads studies exploring the lived experience of dysautonomia, diagnostic pathways, and innovative, multidisciplinary models of care. Her research aims to bridge the gap between scientific discovery and real-world clinical practice, ensuring that evidence meaningfully improves patient outcomes. Alongside academic work, Celine is a Clinical Nurse Consultant managing a multidisciplinary POTS Clinic, overseeing comprehensive assessment and management for patients with complex autonomic conditions. This dual clinical–academic perspective shapes her commitment to practical, implementable solutions that genuinely improve the patient journey and support clinicians delivering care on the ground. Nursing leadership is at the heart of Celine’s career. She is passionate about elevating the role of nurses in cardiovascular and autonomic care, building research capability within the profession, and mentoring emerging clinician researchers. She is committed to strengthening the nursing voice in healthcare innovation, shaping future models of care, and contributing to national conversations on quality, equity, and system redesign. Celine’s goal is to continue leading impactful research, driving clinical innovation, and championing nursing as a vital force in the evolution of cardiovascular and autonomic health care.
