Blaz Stres
Summary
Blaz Stres is Full Professor in Microbiology at University of Ljubljana and Research Fellow at Jozef Stefan Institute. He received his PhD degree in 2003 from Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana. Since 2004 he is a staff member at University of Ljubljana and has collaborated with and worked in the labs of Michigan State University, Center for Microbial Ecology, East Lansing, USA; INRA and University of Burgundy, Dijon, France; Swedish Agricultural University, Uppsala, Sweden; University of Innsbruck, Innsbruck, Austria; Research Unit for Environmental Genomics at the Helmholtz Center Munich, Munich, Germany; Fondazione MACH, Trento, Italy. His main expertise is characterization of microbial communities with modern molecular tools (omics) and of their respective interactions with their environment. Development of novel bionformatic tools, large scale data analyses and data integration amenable for large scale High Performance Computing enable analyses of microbiomes, transcriptomes and metabolomes from diverse environments (water/soil, rumen/biogas, human gut). Research is funded by the Slovenian Research Agency (ARRS), University Research Programs and industry.
