Balu Alagar Venmathi Maran
Summary
Dr. Balu Alagar Venmathi Maran, Ph.D., is currently working as an Associate Professor at the Institute of Integrated Science and Technology, Nagasaki University, Japan. Previously, Dr. Venmathi Maran worked as Associate Professor at the Borneo Marine Research Institute, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), Kota Kinabalu Sabah from 2017 to 2023. He currently works in the field of Marine Science and Aquaculture.
Dr. Venmathi Maran received his Ph.D. in Marine Biology from Hiroshima University, Japan. He has 25 years of research experience in the field of marine fish parasites and aquaculture, and specializes on the “Taxonomy of Fish Parasites and Application of Natural Products to Control Fish Parasites in Aquaculture”. In addition, he is intensively carrying out research on “Biodiversity and Ecology of Jellyfish in Malaysia with a focus on Harmful Jellyfish, Toxins and Jellyfish collagen for cosmetic purposes”. Currently he is working on marine science and technology project "artificial intelligence in biological imaging".
Dr. Venmathi Maran received several awards and gold medals from UMS for his research and innovation. He has authored more than 90 research articles,10 book chapters, and edited three books in Springer and UMS Press. He is the project leader for several research projects including an international project on marine biodiversity. Currently, he is the Guest Editor for several journals.
