Summary

Mary Wicksten graduated from Humboldt State University with a B.A. in Biology in 1970 and the M.A. in Biology in 1972. She earned her Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Southern California in 1977. She is a research associate of the California Academy of Sciences and the Natural History mUseum of Los Angeles County and a national fellow of the Explorers Club. She has over 1300 hours in scuba diving time in diverse locations, from the U.S. Pacific coast to the Galapagos, eastern Australia, New Britain,Fiji, Palau, the Hawaiian Islands, Cuba, the western Caribbean Sea and inland springs, lakes and caverns. She is a specialist in decapod crustaceans and their behavior. Her latest work has involved remotely operated vehicle studies of deep-sea ecosystems.
