Application of spatial omics in reproductive research : a review
Abstract
Spatial omics technologies enable a more comprehensive exploration of the spatial distribution and interactions of germ cells across various developmental stages, and reveal the spatial relationship between cells more accurately than traditional technologies. In contrast to traditional bulk analysis methods, spatial omics offers the unique advantage of elucidating the complex relationships between germ cells and their immediate microenvironment, thus deepening the understanding of the dynamic changes of reproductive system. The application of this technology is expected to provide a new perspective for solving the mysteries of reproductive biology such as spermatogenesis, oogenesis and ovulation, and open up a new way for the study of reproductive system function and disease mechanism. This review describes the development, principle and classification of spatial omics technology, and discusses the application of spatial omics technology in reproductive research.
