Sabine Zajderman
Summary
I am currently a postgraduate student in marine and environmental law at the University of Cape Town, South Africa while also working as a consultant in the fields of access and benefit-sharing, capacity development and sustainable development. I have recently joined the working group on deep-sea genetic resources at the Deep Ocean Stewardship Initiative. My research interest focusses on the access and benefit- sharing of marine genetic resources within national jurisdiction, marine traditional knowledge, marine biotechnology, conservation and sustainable use as well as the interplay between the Law of the Sea and the Nagoya Protocol, the similarities and distinct characteristics of marine bioprospecting and marine scientific research, all of which contributing to the effective national implementation of the Nagoya Protocol.
