José H Muelbert
Summary
José H. Muelbert (Zeca) graduated in Oceanology at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande (FURG), where he also obtained a M.Sc. in Biological Oceanography. José holds a Ph.D. in Oceanography from Dalhousie University, Canada. He is a Full Professor at FURG, and the former Director of the Instituto de Oceanografia (IO-FURG), having coordinated the Graduate Program in Biological Oceanography from 2002 to 2006. He is the author of more than 30 publications in scientific journals and books, and has coordinated several scientific projects. His experience in Oceanography emphasize on the interaction between marine organisms and environmental parameters in coastal and oceanic South Atlantic and climate change. José has served on the Global Ocean Observing System Scientific Committee (GOOS-SC) of the Intergovernamental Oceanographic Committee (IOC) from 2002-2007, and was reappointed in 2012. He is a member of the Pool of Experts of the for the United Nations World Ocean Assessment. Currently a Adjunct Researcher at the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS) at University of Tasmania (UTAS).
