Dr. Nikos Gurfield is a board certified veterinary pathologist who directs the vector disease and diagnostic laboratory for the County of San Diego, Vector Control Program. His interests lie in protecting the public from zoonotic and vector borne diseases. In addition to utilizing molecular diagnostics to detect vector pathogens, he conducts zoonotic disease outbreak investigations and develops policy emergency response plans. He also directs a community outreach program to educate County residents how to stay safe from vector borne diseases.
