Call for Papers: Side Effects of Gastrointestinal Cancer Therapeutics

by | Jun 21, 2022 | Call for Papers, Special Issue

“The employment of non-surgical treatment options for gastrointestinal cancer has greatly assisted late-stage patients. However, we need to further investigate the impacts of these options to reduce unwanted side effects and improve the quality of life for patients.” Special Issue Editor Dr. Jian Zhang, Attending Surgeon, Senior researcher, Sun Yat-Sen University of Medical Sciences

Gastrointestinal cancer is a leading cause of cancer death worldwide, especially in some regions of Asia. Major advances in cancer therapeutics have led to a remarkable reduction in gastrointestinal cancer mortality. However, these improvements come with the limitation of a range of side effects, that affect most patients with varying severity, and that clinicians and researchers need to treat and investigate. With the emergence of new therapeutics, such as immunotherapy, improving our understanding of therapy-related side effects is a vital and meaningful goal.

“New results are emerging in the field of non-surgical treatment of gastrointestinal tumors, but the application of these results is limited due to the existence of side effects of treatment. It is hoped that this special issue will enable us to make a systematic summary of related fields and inspire future research.” Special Issue Editor Dr Dongjie Yang, Consultant, First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University

For this Special Issue, we particularly encourage the submission of manuscripts dealing with any aspect of side effect analyses for gastrointestinal cancer, including, but not limited to, acute and chronic side effects, immunotherapy, chemotherapy, radiotherapy et al. We welcome manuscripts in the form of original research or literature reviews.
