This study reports on the effects of Typhoon 17 (Jelawat) and how it affected Ryugu Reef on Okinawa-jima, Japan in September 2012. Unusually, researchers were able to survey the benthic communities before and after the typhoon and were thus able to determine the types of damage inflicted by the typhoon.
