Gregory Bonito

Summary

Dr. Bonito is an assistant professor at Michigan State University in the United States. Dr. Bonito studies fungal biodiversity, ecology and evolution, with a focus on phytobiomes and fungal symbioses – that is interactions between fungi, bacteria and photobionts. Significant accomplishments of his research include the discovery and description of new lineages, genera and species of fungi; the discovery, genomic and metabolomic characterization of novel lineages of bacteria that have evolved to live within fungal cells; and, novel symbioses between algae and fungi.
