Summary

Haiyan Chu got a Bachelor degree and a Master degree from Anhui Agriculture University and Huazhong Agriculture University, respectively. He got a Ph.D in soil science from the Institute of Soil Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). Thereafter, he has been in Japan and Canada as a research associate for several years. In August 2010, he went back to the Institute of Soil Science under the Hundred Talent Program of the CAS. Haiyan’s research interests are soil microbiology and biogeochemistry. He mainly focuses on microbial community composition and functioning in agricultural ecosystems as well as in cold terrestrial ecosystems like Tibetan plateau, Arctic and alpine tundra, and the responses and feedbacks of soil microbes to climate change.
