Summary
Head of Invertebrate Division and Researcher at the Natural History Museum, London.
Previously President of the Malacological Society of London. Served on the Steering Committee for the Centre of Ecology and Evolution and Advisory Board for ASSEMBLE Plus. Currently an elected member of the Council of Unitas Malacologica.
My research attempts to identify the mechanisms that generate diversity in species-rich biomes (particularly the Indo-West Pacific Ocean) and the factors that drive cladogenesis, both extrinsic and intrinsic factors that may act globally, regionally or locally and the factors that contribute to phenotypic diversity. Specialisms include biogeography, evolution of shell colour, marine molluscs, and speciation.
