Microbiologist MSc, PhD. Posdoctorate in Cell and Molecular Biology in ribosomal biogenesis. Full professor at School of Medicine of Universidad de Antioquia in Medellin, Colombia. During the last decade, I am focused in drug development for neglected tropical diseases. I have experience in preclinical trials intended to define the effectiveness and safety of compounds from natural and synthetic sources to continue their evaluation into clinical trials. Since 2013 I lead the initiative “Comprehensive strategy for the control of leishmaniasis in Colombia”, a 7-year program funded by Administrative Department of Science and Technology in Colombia-Colciencias
